ok, the bad news is, i can't get it to work with encyption, and would be indepted to anyone who can. the 9800 uses either 64 bit or 128 bit wep, and the airport uses 40 or 128.

so, with encryption off on your airport, you should be able to link to your 9800, and if you go into the settings of pmm you can get the ports that pmm uses, and if you open system preferences/sharing/firewall you can open these ports for pmm. btw, the version of pmm i'm using is the beta version, so nothing new here.

finally, as an added precaution, i went into airport admin and used the wds function to list the mac address of the 9800 (you can find that in the "about" heading on the 9800). it probably did nothing, but i'm superstitious.

i think at some point i actually had it working with wpa encryption, but one of my computers is a windows machine and it didn't like this. hope any of this is helpful.

Newbie here to the site.
I'm looking for a really functional remote to
use on our home theater system and interface with
the Mac (G4). Several questions I'd like to ask.
1. Does the 9800i now have downloadable software
from Phillips to update equipment codes and buttonology,
similar to the 7000u?
2. If so, does the 9800i have similar capabilities
as the 7000u now or, if not, could anyone explain
the differences?
3. Any relevant info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

OK...I don't run MAC, but the answer to questions #1 is NO. I am extremely disappointed with this unit. Many of Philips older units provide equal, if not more useability features. I CAN'T BELEIVE THAT IN THIS DAY AND AGE THEY DIDN'T EVEN PROVIDE FOR CUSTOM INTERFACES!

That link for hte Mac software seems dead, although my remote is not working (despite being brand new) if I end up with a replacement I could use the Mac version. Could someone host or drop a link please?

hello

just trying to find out whether its worth buying a 9800 as i can't seem to find anything else suitable in that price range.
been onto to philips and they are not that much help with regard to compatibility with applemac and whether the downloads/updates are still available.
i have osx 10.4.9.
Will it all work ok and easy enough to set up?

cheers
