Over the years I had started with a TS1000 then upgraded to a TS2000.
Well last year my TS2000 broke. I had heard good things about the Harmony 880 so I bought one.

My wife and kids really wanted a remote with actual buttons to feel.

Well I HATE the Harmony!!
I cannot control my devices well at all.
Just the ability to turn everything on and off is maddening!
I have spent WAY TOO MUCH time trying to get the Harmony to work.

I miss the Pronto software! I and need to control my system!

So I'm looking to purchase another Pronto.
I like the large screen real estate. Some of it's WIFI capabilities...
My question is, will the 9800 frustrate me more.

My system is nothing crazy.

Comcast cable box HDTV w/DVR.
Mitsubishi projection TV
Denon 3803 reciever.
Kenwood Entre & 403 disc DVD changer
IR light controler

I have no question to the pronto being able to control these devices with macros just like my TS2000 had done for 5 years.

But at this point if I purchase another controler that is not stable enough for the wife and kids to use, should I then look to the TS3000 or 7000?

Any insight any of you have would be welcomed!

The 9800i will definitely frustrate you. It is not flexible and if something doesn't work there is absolutely no way to work around the problem, because you can't program the device. There are still numerous bugs that aren't solved. And although we (users through this and the streamium cafe forum) have reported several bugs, we haven't seen a firmware update. This firmware update will probably never come and if it does will definitely not solve the bugs (like the latest 2.0.80, which is less stable than 2.0.78 and has worse WIFI reception, and no one seems to know which improvements are made in the latest firmware).

I sense that you are a critical user who wants the remote to work seamlessly with your equipment. This is therefore not the remote for you. It (still) works for me because I only want it for the very basics of controlling and I like the looks and feel.

Best Regards and good luck in your quest for finding the perfect remote (does such a thing really exists?),

Thank you for sheding some light on the 9800 for me.

Yeah, I have way too much going on in my life for high management items.

I don't mind investing the time if the outcome is foreseeable.
I'll start looking back to the 3000-7000.

Thanks again!

Hard to believe you have problems w/ the Harmony remote. I have a slightly more complicated system (less the light controller), and my Harmony 880 works great.

Maybe you just didn't set it up right? Exactly what kinds of problems are you having??
