Hi,

I am thinking of buying a TSU3000 but they are way too expensive in Europe, $560 with the cradle. I don't want the charger and cradle, but that's the only way they sell it here (at my local dealer).

If I buy it from the US, what do I have to do to make it work with a European Philips TV?

One of the features I want is to be able to change the AV channel in one button click. Sometimes I hook up my DV camera to the TV and I have to push a button 3 times to be able to choose the front panel as the input.

I would also like to control the spot lights in our ceiling.

Thanks.

This link is to the Pronto unofficial FAQ and describes some of the differences between the previous models. [Link: remotecentral.com]

As far as the TSU-3000 and the European counterpart are concerned, I can only guess, but I suspect that the major differences are legal approvals and the universal IR database.

@Hinke

Where do you come from? In Germany you get the remote for about 320€ without the docking station.

I do not know why you do not want the charger, but if you read this forum you will see a lot of messages about problems concering low batteries.

The TSU3000 can also be used with the RU951 charger.

It should be noted that the RF frequency used by the TSU3000 is illegal in Europe... which is why there's the RU950 model.

I’m using since beginning of march a TSU-3000 in Switzerland... without any problem at all... (except the common bugs...)
Actually, I don’t care if the RF frequency is illegal, because I don’t use it...!!

I think it won’t make any difference at all for IR sending between a TSU-3000 and a RU-950, for any European Hi-Fi components.

And about the price, € 320.- is about $ 375.-, which is a lot more than the present US street price (~ $ 250.- / € 210.-) !!

Rolud,

Where did you get your TSU-3000 from the US?

I am now concidering buying the TSU-3000(RU950) here in Sweden, but the price just is not fair. We'll see what I do. I have done bad deals before from the US, product broke and I had to send it back.....costed me a bunch of extra money.

Thanks.

I am here in Canada, but I don't think you can compare the two prices. That 250$ US will probably be hit with VAT and then there is the extra cost of transportation and possibly other taxes or costs. I think you should compare the two final costs. If you did buy a remote from the US how much did it really end up costing?

I think I have given up the idea of getting it from the US.

I did something similar with a DV camera recently and it had to be shipped back for repair...long story.

We'll see what happens. I thinkg the reason for me getting the remote at all has been shot down. Almost beats the purpose for me having one.

I bought my TSU3000 in march from http://www.bhphotovideo.com the price was $250 ( and the total cost for shipping and custom duties was about $320 (only 5 days for delivery time to my home here in ITALY). I bought peng in USA because was very difficult to find here in Italy (quite impossible).

I bought a RU950 now in Europe. Jikes, the price was a little bit high, but I got the docking station with it.

I'll get it today or tomorrow.

Wonder when the firmware update will come for the RU950.
