Hello All.... I'm trying to figure out how to convert PSD files into PCF files. How anyone how how I can do this? Thanks |

You will need to save the file as BMP or PNG. The PNG is better, because it uses less memory and utilizes PNG transparency.

How do i do that? I tried to open it in paint but it didn't work. What should I open the file with?

PSD file is a Photoshop file extention. I do not know if any other applications can open it except Photoshop.

To my knowledge Photoshop is the only application which will open a PSD file. When saving PNG files in Photoshop for use in your PCF I'd also suggest using the "Save for Web ..." option. The PNG-8 option found there set to a color count 128 or lower will give you the best bang for your buck so far as using the least amount of memory in the remote.

Actually Lowpro, a PNG-8 still has 8-bits per pixel. Therefore, I would suspect that 256 or less will yield the same results as 128 or less.

Typically there is a space savings to be had when using a reduced color palette, ie. 128 vs 256, even when the file format only handles 256 (this is due to the level of detail making up the image being simplified and more easily compressible).
