Hi new to the website so hopefully this is the right place to post my question.
I have the following issue with a tsu7000, rfa6500 and rfx6500.

The commands only seem to work from about 1ft away from the aerial.
If I move further away the commands stop working.

I currently have an IR cable coming from port 1 on the rfx6500 unit these splits into 2 IR ends. One of these is connected to the front of a xbox 360 which is what I’m trying to operate.

The rfa6500, rfx6500 and the xbox are all in the same room and all close proximity to each other.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the external antenna connected to the RFX6500?

One other question. When it does work, can you cover the front of the remote with your hand and test again? If it ceases to work, then you likely have not configured the TSU7000 to use the RF Extender. That has to be done in the ProntoProEditNG software.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes the antenna is connected to the RFX6500.

I will test and get back to you.

You might also want to try this. The extender uses either 910MHz or 933MHz and can be prone to interference. If you have a shoe box, line it with foil and put the extender in there leaving the top off and the box facing the Pronto. If reception gets better, then you likely have interference from surrounding equipment.

You can also download the manual from here.

Hi Lyndel

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I only have access to the equipment during the week.

Unfortunately not i did cover the front of the unit but still had the same problem.

Just had a quick looking through the manual you set over. Greatly appreciated.

That may have solved the problem.

I will test and come back to you.

Thanks again for all you help and support.

Thought it might have been a wireless access point interfering with the signal but that is now out of the way.

I might be wrong but i'm sure i read somewhere that i can check what rf frequency the pronto is set to on the device its self?

Can this be done though the pronto or is it only through the pronto ng software?

Is it a good idea to turn off the blaster if i'm using ir cables?

Wifi access points are 2.4GHz normally. Is there a set of cordless phones operating around 900MHz in the household?

The EU models/units operate on a different frequency than US models and are labeled RUxxx vs TSUxxxx.

If you have a TSU7X00, it is set for US frequency and cannot be changed to EU frequency.

To verify which one you have, you can touch and hold the setup (remote icon) at top left of the screen for 3+ seconds and you can see exactly what model you have as well as the firmware version that is loaded.

TSU7000 will only work with an RFX6500 that is the US model on the same frequency (IIRC, is 910MHz).

Managed to get it working last night but only through the ir blaster on the rfx6500.

So i'm guessing the ir cable is wrong.

Do I need any special ir cable?

The ones i have i got from ebay.

Did the user manual have the information on setting the DIP switches on th base of the blaster? Set them to the highest level (3) to see if that works. You can temporarily turn off the main blaster to sest in the emitters work.

How to Turn Off the IR Blaster
When you decide to control the audio/video devices with Dual IR emitters only,
you can turn off the IR blaster of the Blaster unit.

To turn off the IR blaster, set switch 5 to 0 (Off).

How to Set the Dual IR Emitter Power Levels
You can use dip switches 1 to 4 to set the power level of the Dual IR emitters.
Toset the power level:

For Dual IR emitters 1 and 2, use switches 1 and 2;

For Dual IR emitters 3 and 4, use switches 3 and 4.

You can choose between 4 power levels (0, 1, 2 and 3). By default, power
level 3 is selected for each group of Dual IR emitters

I hope that assists

Hi Stoobie

Thank you for your advise. Unfortunately that did not work.

Do you know if I need any special IR cables?

You should be using dual ir emitter cables if possible and the cables should have a 2 pin (mono) plug with a tip and a sleeve. Also, I don't ever use the 'BlinkIR' emitters which have a visible LED inside them such that you can visually see when they are transmitting.

You should also use stick-on emitters and not a direct cabling to IR input jacks on equipment.

Some types of equipment don't tolerate the level if IR that the unit emits. In this case, some have poked a pinhole in black electrical tape and put that on the equipment and then put the emitter on top of the tape.

These are the ones I have used.

Purchased from ebay: 163968334628

If someone could have a look and let me know if these should work that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again to everyone for the help.
