I recently replaced my TSU7000 with the TSU7500, wishing to take advantage of the additional 16 MB of memory.

I then added one DVD image to the DVD section of the configuration, and in the CD section, I added in some 20 CD cover images that I hadn't been able to include on the TSU7000.  I also added to the configuration one new CD that I had recently purchased.

The new configuration seems to work perfectly on the TSU7500.

However, whenever I try to simulate the configuration in the ProntoProEdit NG software, I get the error message:

The CF Version is not correct or the memory is corrupt

In the configuration, there are eight devices:
  • TV
  • DVD
  • S-VHS
  • CD
  • Receiver
  • Tuner
  • DVR
  • Phono
Through experimentation, I have discovered that any subset of these eight devices in a configuration that contains BOTH the DVD and the CD will exhibit the error.  Any configuration that contains only one of the CD and DVD will NOT show the error and the simulator works fine.

Just to emphasize, even a configuration that includes ONLY the CD and the DVD will fail with the error, and configurations that have seven of the eight devices, where the missing device is the CD or the DVD, will work perfectly fine in the simulator.

FYI -- I still have 33% of the 48 MB of memory free when all eight devices are included.

Can anyone suggest a possible cause of the problem?

Thank you for your help.

Email me the config file and let me know what version of PPENG you are running. I will install PPENG and have a look.

Using Winzip/winrar, please verify the zip comments as documented here.

Lyndel,

I have sent the email and included a link to my configuration file.

I am sorry that I didn't understand what you wanted me to do with your "Using Winzip/winrar, please ..." comment.

If my response is unacceptable (i.e., you are reluctant to download my .pcf file), please explain to me what it is that you would prefer that I do.

Thank you.

Lyndel,

An update ...

As I have said previously, the changes I made (once I got the TSU7500 with 50% more memory) were only to the DVD section and the CD section. I added in images of CD covers and I added in one totally new CD with its image.

And also as I have said before, if I delete all devices other than the CD and the DVD, I still get the "The CF version is not correct ..." error message.

So now I looked at the configuration that included only the CD and the DVD and I started removing, one by one, the images I had added. After each removal, I tested to see if the SIM would work.

When I removed the 9th CD image, the SIM worked. But then, when I saved that configuration, exited, and reopened it, the SIM once again got the same error.

I then removed the 10th CD image, and once again, the SIM worked. And still once again, when I saved that configuration, exited, and reopened it, the SIM once again got the error.

Finally, I started again with all the CD images, and removed only the 9th and 10th. The SIM failed.

That's the extent of the things I have tried to this point.

Here is a list of the first ten CD images that I removed
===================================:

(1) In CD => Vocal 1 => Burt Bacharach - Volume 1
(2) In CD => Vocal 1 => Burt Bacharach - Volume 2
(3) In CD => Vocal 1 => Burt Bacharach - Volume 3
(4) In CD => Vocal 1 => Tom Lehrer -- Disc 1
(5) In CD => Vocal 1 => Tom Lehrer -- Disc 3
(6) In CD => Vocal 2 => Side by Side => Arise & Shine
(7) In CD => Vocal 2 => Side by Side => On Wings of Song
(8) In CD => Vocal Other 3 => Barbara Hunt
(9) In CD => Vocal Other 4 => Dean Martin - Collection
(10) In CD => Instrumental 1 => Out of the Chamber

Len,

Thanks for sharing the file and the version (2.1.8). The issue you are seeing is a common problem that was experienced likely by many and even I forgot it existed.

Here's the issue. The file you are opening is a file created for TSU7000 (see the titlebar of the editor after opening file) "TSU 7000 - Len Jacobsen.pcf" It is very likely that you have set the Control Panel Type in PPENG to TSU7500.

When you 'Simulate', the editor tells the Simulator the expected config file type. In your case, the simulator was expecting a TSU7500 file and you were sending it a TSU7000 file.

The configuration file type and the Control Panel type in the editor must match.
Below should get you going. I verified this by installing PPENG on Win7 box and then opening/simulating the file.

Use the Tools->Options->Select Control Panel... Menu and verify/ensure that the control panel type specified is TSU7500. This is required to be able to use the extra memory on the device and not have the editor complain.

After doing this...

From within PPENG, and assuming your config file is still open, you will need to save your file as a TSU7500 format.

File -> Save Configuration As...

Specify a new filename and then "also" note the "Save As Type:"drop down just below the filename where you must specify type as TSU7500.

Once you save as new name/version, the updated file will be loaded and the titlebar will Reflect TSU7500. You should then be able to simulate. If you are still having issues, then it may be related to the USB Driver. I did not install the unsigned driver as part of my tests.

Please post back and let me know if you are good to go.

Thanks,
Lyndel

Lyndel,

Once again, you are 100% correct!!

I had noticed that the Editor was showing "TSU7000" on the configuration file, even though I had previously gone into Tools => Options => Select Control Panel and had chosen "TSU7500". I didn't know how to overcome that. But you told me to do "Save As ..." and that definitely solved my "The CF Version is not correct ..." error message.

Again, I thank you so much for being so helpful!! You are great, and I wish I could somehow return the favor.

If ever you think I could contribute some help to you, please, please ask me.
