I'm getting a second Sony CX455 400-CD changer. On the back of the unit and the remote, I'll make one CD1 and the other CD2. However, is there an EASY way to duplicate the CD1 device in my ccf file, so I don't have to laboriously learn every CD2 button. There are plenty of CX455 files out there, but none with discrete CD1 and CD2 devices.

You posted in the NG forum so hoping that you have an NG remote.

Duplicate the device using ProntoEditNG or ProntoEditProNG (PENG or PPENG) and then plug in the codes needed.

Now, where to get the codes? Search the Classic Pronto Files Section for my Sony CD Changer CCF. You can then File->Import CCF into the editor to make a config (PCF file). Merge this file into your config and go from there. i.e. you can drag links, etc...

I'm sure that once you review this CCF, you will find that you need nothing more. It has every code for CD1, CD2, and CD3 (Command Mode 1, 2, 3) including all known discrete codes.

Then, there's also the very old Sony CD Supercharger program that when combined with SuperNudelist data files (SNL also available in the Classic Pronto files section) will allow you to generate a CCF that, via IR commands, labels artists and disc names in the changer (same as attaching a keyboard and typing the names). If using NG remote, you can File->Import CCF... to put this file into an NG remote to use.

Note that only 200 artists are supported on the Sony changers but other than that, should work just fine.

With the SuperCharger program, there is a readme.txt file that discusses the IR protocol used by Sony so if you are a techie, you might be interested in that as well as the Pronto Hex IR Format document in the Classic Pronto Files Section under User Documentation. This document is of course, by the now famous Mr. Barry Gordon.

I have ProntoEdit NG. It requires PCFs. I downloaded your CCF, but can't open it.

You must do as I suggested above

Directly from the post above.
"You can then File->Import CCF into the editor to make a config (PCF file)."

To be "crystal clear"...

1. Unzip the file you downloaded to get to CCF file.
2. Open ProntoEdit NG and then select File->Import CCF
3. Save file as a PCF.
4. Open your PCF.
5. Merge the PCF from step 3 into your PCF by selecting File->Merge Configuration
6. Add links to the new IR code buttons as needed.

I saved your CCF as a PCF and merged the desired device into my CCF. Your Keypad/Track, Power/Play/Mega, and Group Play panels are exactly what I need. HOWEVER, when I put them into the device and delete the old panels, all the commands lose the panels they refer to and vanish. How do I put your panels into my device without rewriting dozens and dozens of actions that refer to the old panels? Your panels LOOK EXACTLY LIKE MY OLD ONES AND HAVE EVERYTHING I NEED.

Alt-Drag a button from my panel onto your own button with same name. That copies the Actions. If you Shift-Drag a button, that copies Images. If you Ctrl-Drag a button from my panel to yours, I think the editor adds a Link to my button into your button (that may be why you cannot delete my panels). I think Alt-Drag is the action you want to use.

Press F1 from editor and search for keyboard shortcuts to validate the above statements please.

And, the all caps text above is intrepreted as SCREAMING which some folks don't like. You can use <b> html markup to emphasize should you need to do so.

I do not want various buttons from your panels. What I need is for all three of your panels to completely replace three old panels in a device, so that various CD commands in my system refer to your panels, and not my old ones. The problem is that when I delete my old panels, even with your panels with the same name in the device, the commands vanish, as the panels they refer to are gone. Your three panels have 60 buttons total.

I think that is because when you delete your pages, the UI (visible ones you press) buttons on other pages are still 'linked' the to the buttons in the pages you are removing. In that case, you need to relink your UI buttons to the buttons in my pages (that's why I mentioned Ctrl-Drag) from my button onto your own.

Here's my suggestion.

1. Delete your pages
2. Leave mine there
3. Ctrl-Drag (may be Ctrl-Shift-Drag) from my '1' button for example to your UI keypad 1 button and a link to the button on my page will be added.

Note that there is no 'magic' way to replace all your buttons with mine without doing the work to 'relink' your UI buttons to the ones in my pages.
