I have managed to keep my 990 up and running even though upgrading to Win7 64bit by just buying a cheap used laptop as the download/upload interface for the remote but I continue to use PPNG edit program fine on Win7.

That aside....I have had an odd quirk on my RU990 for a while now (long before I transferred to Win7), I find I can no longer access the settings screen on the remote, that is the battery condition, light duration timer, date and time etc....

If I touch the little remote icon I get a beep but it will not open the screen, its getting a bit annoying now as I have tried resetting the remote and updating but to no avail.

Anyone had this problem?

Me, too. Only I never learned how to get into that mode to begin with. Lyndel, is it in one of the docs here on the site?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I assume you're pressing and holding the remote icon for a few seconds? Otherwise, have you tried creating another button and assigning the 'settings' system command to it.

As Zap says, press and hold for 3 seconds.

On a slim chance that you have placed a 99% transparent button on top of the remote icon, open the System Page in the editor and make sure that there is not one of your buttons over the 'remote' icon on the screen. If you have and have assigned a single delay action, that is why you are hearing beep but get nothing. If not, press and hold statement above rules.

The answer can also be found in the manuals (available from the files section) but for some reason not in the FAQ (that I could find).

See page 15 here for TSU3000:

Or page 19 here for TSU7500:

Once you know about the 3 seconds, a search of the PDF for 3 seconds yields other places that also require a 3 second press.

Also note that if you assign 'Tools' or 'Setup' 'Special Action' to an onscreen button, you have to hold those onscreen buttons for 3 seconds as well before remote will jump to the screen.

And finally, if you cannot figure what the problem is, you can rectify with a 'merge'. Create a new configuration, merge your existing configuration into the new configuration, and then drag your home pages from the old activity into the home activity of the new config.

Regards,
Lyndel

What a marvellously comprehensive and detailed reply, most oblidged Lyndel.

What is slightly embarressing is the fact that it has been so long since I needed to access the settings screen I had forgotten all about the press and hold....oops!

I shall check it out tonight, thank you.
