Hi.

I have been using an old Pronto RU940 for years. It has serverd me well.

But I recently decided to buy an RU950 off EBay as an upgrade as the original one is now somewhat temperamental when trying to download files to it via a USB-Serial convertor.

I have a Pioneer VSX-2020K Av. Amp and it has a number of discrete codes which are actaully two codes. For example to set the surround mode to Dolby PLII Movie you send

Device 165, command 154 (A59A), followed by device 165, command 0 (A500)
I made the hex for this using irtool, and programmed up the RU940 using two separate codes on the one button and it worked flawlessy (and still does).

I took the ccf file and converted it to pcf for the RU950 and everything is working fine expect these two part codes. They just don't do anything.

I tried a few things like adding a delay between the two commands. But just can't get this to work with the RU950. I even tried learning from the RU940 on the RU950 when pressing the button, but couldn't get that to work either.

Can anyone suggest what may be going on here.

And help greatly appreciated.

Regards - Graham

Try adjusting the IR Duration setting on each of the codes from 'Default' to something that works. Requires latest firmware to do so.

Thanks for that. I did see that option and tried changing it from 'default' to 0.1sec. That still didn't work, but I'll try a few other values and report back. Anyone know what the default duration is?

I'd try values up to 1.0 seconds and then scale them back to something that does not work. Start with 0.5 seconds and if those work scale back but if not go up to 1.0 seconds

Great. Thanks for the advice. Not at home at the moment. But will give it a go when I get back tomorrow.

Ok. Gave this a try this evening. Tried with 0.5 sec duration and no luck. Then tried with 1.0 sec duration and still no joy.

Any other ideas?

Do you mean this code?

0000 0068 0000 0044 0168 00b4 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 06d9 0168 00b4 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 06d9

Hi makitamark.

Yes, that code works perfectly. Looking at the hex it's essentially a combination of my two codes - with the first 4 bytes of the second code taken out.
I don't know the details of the hex format, but is that the general way of combining two codes?

Hopefully that means I'll be able to generate the other codes I need using that technique. I'll give that a try tonight.

How did you get that code? I couldn't find the ones I wanted in the discrete codes listed here (although I last looked a while ago).

I'm still puzzled why the two separate codes in a macro worked fine on the old pronto but don't work on the new one though.

But I have a solution.

Thanks for your help, both of you.

Removing the Pre-amble appears to be the correct method of joining two seperate IR codes into 1 code.
I only know of Pioneer doing this, a lot of learning equipment will see the first part of the code and then reject the second, entering it as Hex is often the only way.

Thanks for the help.

I did successfully set up the 'Extended Stereo' sound mode discrete by combining the two original commands as well. I realised the 4 value is actually the length, so had to double that up. But it now works fine.

Just need to do the same with all the other codes now.

Cheers.
