Want to edit downloaded pcf files. I've changed the file ext to zip ( like it was explained in the faq's), but after I rename I get a pop up " If you change the file name extension, the file may become unusable". I change anyway. When I try to open the new zip folder I get a blank page. I've gone into the control panel and unchecked hide file extensions. I'm running windows XP and have a pronto 7500. Also very new to all of this but want to learn. Thanks Chris

I've downloaded some configurations and looking to use some buttons. Looking to tweek them a little bit ( colors/ fonts/labels etc.). I read in David D'arche's Pronto guide you can change them but they should be put into a bitmap folder in order to use a paint/drawing program. I,ve tried in PPENG to change label for borrowed buttons but doesn't seem to work. I am a novice, as you could tell. If there is a easier way to borrow and modify buttons I'll try.
Thanks Chris

I recommend you use a zip tool such as Winzip or 7Zip vs using the Compressed Folder viewer under Windows.
To edit config button/panel images, you don't have to extract all the images unless you simply want to edit lots of them at a time.
For the one-offs, you can change button properties/images via the editor (On Appearance Properties tab) by saving images from buttons to your hard drive, editing the image from the hard drive, and then loading the image back into PEP.

Thanks Lyndel. 7-Zip worked Great. This site is very helpful, I'm sure I'll have plenty of other questions. Thanks again

There's a post by LowPro in this forum that discusses extracting stuff. You can also search for replace battery icon to get lots of PCF structure info and help.

Lyndel, If i may quickly jump in here and ask a similar question.
In regards to my Pronto TSU7000. Can i import or partially import files from the likes of the Pronto Professional in regards to particular images, buttons one has used?

No, you cannot import XCF files. What you can do is to extract an XCF using a zip utility and you will find a 'bitmaps' folder which contains all the images.
