I have a Philips Pronto RU990, which I bought early this year 2nd hand off eBay.

Recently it started to re-boot itself occasionally, and I'd noticed the battery life was down to about 2 hours if left out of the dock.

I bought a replacement battery pack from an on-line source last month and it seemed to be fine. Battery life was now over 3 days when out of the dock, and no re-boots.

I went to use it the other day and it was working fine... picked it up to pause a film and the screen lit up white. I thought it was re-booting, but it stayed like that.

Now the screen won't do anything but light up white, despite all the functions working correctly when pressed (guessing the on-screen button locations of course)

I've tried removing the battery pack, pressing the reset button, re-installing the config file (standard and custom) and updating the firmware (already on the latest though), but nothing has returned it to normal operation.

Is it possible for this to be repaired? Are there any known common faults that cause these symptoms?
Thanks,
Stuart

It can be repaired @ www.servicewidetech.com in US but you will likely need to see a distributor outside US. If you are a DIY'er, you may want to search for 3000 white screen.

For sure, there is one big-@ss thread here discussing this issue.

Hi Guys, I think Lyndel may have the wrong model above. The RU990 is the same as the TSU7500 and I'm not sure the issue on the TSU3000 will be the same, as the screens are very different.

Thanks for the replies.

Stoobie is correct.. having read through the TSU3000 thread that Lyndel linked me to, it seems to be a different problem altogether;

In my case, the touch function of the screen is retained, but the screen only displays a white image (so can still be used if I guess where on the screen I need to press)

I've ordered a replacement screen, but having searched around and read a bit, I fear it may be a board or comonent issue.

If this is the case, does anyone have any information regarding the board i.e. links to schematics, or which chips on the board control which function?

Any help at this stage would be great
Thanks,
Stu

OK, so as per my ]wanted thread, I have tried a replacement screen and it's still the same.

Anyone got any suggestions on how this could be repaired?

A new motherboard, perhaps?

You'd have to find another on Ebay or take your unit into a rep/distributor as in EU, rep/distributors do repair.
