Hi, I run a Pronto TSU-7000 in my HT and recently added an IR repeater for another room where I have a Tivo HD unit serving two bedrooms. My problem is when I use my Pronto, the IR repeater in the bedroom picks up the signals when I am trying to command my HT Tivo in my HT from my Pronto. The Pronto is sending out RF to a Pronto entender in my gear room. I believe the IR repeater is using the same RF frequency.

I tried adjusting the channel and ID on the Pronto but this made no difference. The IR repeater I am using is the Radio Shack unit. Any suggestions on a unit that will not have this issue? Hardwiring a repeater is an option if I have to go that route. Your thoughts???

Thanks.

Why not use a second Pronto extender? Then you can use channel addressing to solve the problem.

The remote I am using with the extender is a Tivo remote.

If this is indeed the case, I would try covering up the IR receiver on your Radio-Shack IR repeater and see if the problem still occurs. It could be caused by several issues but I suspect that it is not RF but instead IR bleed-through/reflection from the IR blaster on the Pronto Extender.

Can you confirm?

Thanks for the suggestion. I already had the repeater covered. I am confident it is an RF issue.

I believe it is indeed an RF issue.

The Pronto units use channel and ID to keep from interfering with one another, but the Radio Shack unit (Model number?) probably does not. That would lead to the Pronto not picking up RF from the RS unit due to the Pronto's filtering (or whatever it actually is), but the RS unit being wide open to all variations of the Pronto unit.

Try a different tack: go to the TiVo forums and seek instructions for changing one of the TiVos to IR codeset 2. That way RF interference will be irrelevant.
I have ACTUALLY said this a thousand times: We can't help you much without the make and model of everything involved in the problem! Unless you want a vague answer. Or none. Your move.
