Hi all,
I have been ghost in the forums for a long time. Haven't had the nerve to try my hand at programing, but last week I got the OK to buy a new H.K. 2600 receiver (with needed HDMI ) and an LG Blue Ray and saw the need to get my 3000 to work for us! Found many talented programers have posted their concepts to share. Does one download the file then modify the ir codes with the remotes for the components I have? What is the degree of difficulty? We are trying to get a Sony LCD 50" , Scientific Atlanta 8300HD, Harman Kardon 2600, LG bd390, HK fl8450 cd changer to play nicely together!

Before I forget, while looking at the different files to pick from, my 3000 screen froze like so many others, but if not for this site and its dedicated members, I wouldn't have been so lucky to find the fix. I had a # 6 torx and was back in business 10 minutes after reading through 20 some pages! Thank you, Thank you!!

Glad to finally hear from you!

Yes, download something, and then change it. It takes some time to work out the processes, but it's not hard after a while.

When I started programming remotes for customers, I downloaded existing files from here, then learned new commands onto the buttons. When I learned a command, that act erased the command that was there.

As time went on, though, and I was doing macros, I found it confusing to have several commands, all named "learned," that I was piling up, one after another. So I changed my ways. I made a panel with twenty blank buttons (no graphics, just a rectangle about 20 x 80) and when I get a new component, I put the command names on the buttons and then teach the commands to the remote. Then I take the panel with the actual artwork I want to use, and I alias or "link" the artwork buttons to the learned commands.

This gives me a couple of things: 1) the command name always shows up in every macro, 2) there are a panel or two that I can store as the commands for that component, and 3) I can totally change the artwork and I don't have to relearn commands.
I have ACTUALLY said this a thousand times: We can't help you much without the make and model of everything involved in the problem! Unless you want a vague answer. Or none. Your move.
