Hi all !
I bought a month ago a TSU7000 to replace my 4 years old TSU3000 !!
I'm really happy with the TSU7000, however the behaviour of the hard buttons backlight is very strange !!

With the TSU3000, if I press the Vol + hard button (or any other hard button), the backlight switch On itself, which is for me the most "normal" behaviour.
With the TSU7000, with the last software installed and after having tried every setup as possible, if I press the Vol + hard button (or any other hard button), the backlight will never switch On...??
The only way I've found to have the backlight On under the hard buttons... is pressing the upper left button on the side of the Pronto !

Is that the "normal" behaviour of the TSU7000, or did I miss something..??

Thanks in advance for your help !!

No, I'm afraid you didn't miss anything. That feature is not available with the TSU7000 model.

You can assign the special action "backlight" to another hard button if you wish, however that will take that hard button out of play if you wanted it to do something else. Or you can do make a soft button to activate the backlight.

On the 3000 and I thought the same applies with the 7000 this behaviour is settable

With my 3000 (well 950 UK model) none of the hard keys (except the ones on the left side) turn the backlight on. the backlight only comes on with the screen when you touch it. This is how I set it and you can change it.

On page 3 of the settings theres options for screen activation where you can set the cursor and firm keys activation (you can set to either send the code, turn on the light or both with combinations of the 2 little icons)

Same applies for the 7000 with the latest firmware.

You can enter settings on the remote (Hold Pronto Icon for 3 seconds) and specify whether the press of a hard button should:

1. Send IR Only
2. Send IR and Turn On Backlight

Thanks a lot for your replies !!

Actually, I thought it was exactly like in the post of Lyndel McGee !

I have the latest firmware... on both the TSU3000 and the TSU7000. On the 3000, everything is fine, and on the 7000, it doesn't work !!

So I'm pretty close to rely more on the post of Wjjz106, saying "That feature is not available with the TSU7000 model..." !!

Just tested on a 7000 and you are right. CH+/-, Mute, Vol+/- DO NOT turn on the backlight.

I don't think this will turn the backlight of the hardbuttons on. It will only turn on the LCD Lyndel.

Ossocao,

You are correct. The aforementioned buttons only turn on the LCD backlight and does NOT turn on the Electroluminescent panel behind the hard buttons.

I think the volume, channel change and mute buttons are rubbish and not nearly as good as the buttons on the old TSU1000 which felt a lot better and lit up when pressed. Apart from that niggle, the 7000 (RU990) is superb.

I can't see this option on my TSU7000.
Backlight for the buttons only comes on if I press the backlight button on the side, others have said that the backlight for the buttons should come on when pressing any hard key :(
Any idea's?
Thanks

If you don't have these options in "Settings" on the remote, download latest firmware.

You have to enter Tools (Press top-left Pronto Icon on screen for 3 seconds) and go to Settings (these are the pages where Page 4 is firmware revision) and on Page 3 (Screen Activiation), there are 2 buttons that if you press them, the icon to the left changes indicating the type of operation (I used text to illustrate the meanings of these icons).

Thanks Lyndel

I do have the latest firmware.
On page 3 in tools I have the "Firm keys" button which has the light and audio icons on it already showing, but the buttons do not illuminate when I press them, only when I press the light button on the side.
Would it be worth re installing the latest firmware?
Thanks

I just tried installing the firmware again, no difference.
Is there a way of entering tools in prontoProEdit?

The backlight behind the hard buttons are only turned on by the hard button in the left side of the remote or by creating a button in the LCD, period. There is no way to turn it on automatic.

The page 3 in the tools when you select a bulb it means when you press those hard keys it will turn the LCD panel on first. If you select ((o)) it will send only the command and will not turn on the LCD. If you select both the LCD will go on and a IR will be sent too.
