When learning the Lutron set brightness of their remote wall dimmer, the NG 7000 locks up and freezes until i unplug the battery,This is what ultimately destroyed my Denon Aktis RC8000 a couple weeks ago which caused me to purchase the Pronto.Only the Aktis wont come back to life no matter what i do. Anyone have issues with Lutron Learning IR ? Thanks, Michael

What Lutron dimmer are you trying to learn? It is not from an RF remote, is it? It can only learn IR signals.

It's the Maestro IR that comes with a remote bought from the Home Depot, Lowes etc.The on and off buttons program without a hitch, but try that silver round button for preset lamp level and it will really freak the Pronto(7000)into freezing and locked on that display until you set it into the base for several miutes then it beeps and reeboots itself or simply unhook the battery and reinstall and then it will also come back to life.My poor Denon RC8000 Aktis remote is still locked on that lamp page no matter what i do !

I use the "IR from the universal database"
(Codeset 0624)to control the Lutron Dimmer.

I only had to learn one code, the preset.

Preset (not in the database)
0000 0067 0000 0007 0341 010E 005C 010E 005C 0168 005C 00B7 005C 005C 00B7 005C 010E 0168

The above works well with the Lutron maestro MIR-600 Dimmer.

BTW: If you add a 4 second duration to the "Power Off" function you
will get a nice very slow ramp to OFF, like a movie theater.
It gets better all the time.

I had the pronto lock up all the time during learning. I was just hit the reset button and wait.

I noted the Lutron codes in the IR database under Home. Used those codes for about 3 years now.

My RU950 also locks up when trying to learn the ON command for my Lutron Rania dimmer. The European Prontos (at least the RU950) don't have Lutron codes within the database. Has anyone got the IR codes for the Rania? - they appear differrent the the US Maestro IR codes.

Ok, I've had partial success learning the Rania codes, enough to compare them with the Grafik Eye/Maestro to figure out what they should be.

However, I've noticed that when raising/lowering the light level via my Pronto causes the light level to "stutter" at certain points during the transition from full brightness to lowest brightness (and vice-versa), so that is not a completely smooth transition. This behaviour does not occur when using the supplied Lutron remote. I'm certain the raise/lower codes are correct).

It is possible that the Pronto is sending the codes too fast/slow for the Rania? According to Lutron the duration of a command is approximately 83ms. I was wondering what the default/minimum duration of a command sent via the Pronto was.

Am I on the right track? Any thoughts appreciated.

I have the exact dimmers you are talking about. I have used for a few years now with my TSU 2000 and 3000 with no problems. My newer TSU 7500 seems to have an issue with locking up also and it seems to center around the lights page. When I tried to relearn the codes either through the remote or with the assistance of the editor on my pc, my TSU 7500 will white screen and reset as soon a I press a button (and the 7500 is in lean mode) on the Lutron remote. I am currently talking to the kind folks in tech support at Phillips about this. So far no good news. They have my config and are testing it. They have seen my lock ups and say they think it is not just my remote. Meaning their remote seems to exhibit some of the same behavior, so there may be hope for a fix. I have 2 of these dimmers in the same room and offered to ship them one of the remotes for testing if it means they may fix it.

If you would like all the codes, mine do work, other than having random lock up issues. They usually happen when going to the lights page. Burry the codes in your macros and don't touch the lighs page until a fix and you should be all set. I just copied the hex codes out of my old TSU 2000 config because I could not learn them to my TSU 7500.

I actually could not find them. I never thought to look under home. The only problem now is that the memory button is not in the list. I tested every one in the list. Thanks though, I hope this helps.

What is the memory button for?

You can teach the dimmers buy doing a press and hold.

I read the post too fast and missed allot. If I had read more carefully I would have seen that somebody published the missing code. I compared it to the one I was able to get from my old TSU 2000 config and they look very different but it does work.

The preset / memory button recalls 1 favorite dim position (per switch) . I have 2 banks of lights, each with one switch. I set the dim preset to different levels on each switch. When I hit memory both switchs recall the levels that I set, because they are right next to eachother. It fades off the back lights and dims the fronts so the TV is free from glare but leaves them on enough to totally relive eye strain and eye dryness caused from watching movies in the dark. It was a neat idea I got when I had to tear out my livingroom celing due to a roof leak. Before I just uesed a TV back light and a clunky loud X10 relay. I like the recessed lighting SOOO much more. Thanks for the help.

I thought I would follow up with my latest findings on this Lutron thread. The dimmer series Home Depot and Lowes sells for about $40 is the Meastro series. I called their tech support after adding their new fan and light (in one switch) module because I was not able to learn all the new fan codes. Lutron has the codes all on 1 MS word document (and other forms) here: [Link: lutron.com] . You have to scroll down a bit but they are all there. Thanks for all of the help a little while ago. I just figured with this newer switch comming out, somebody will need this link.

The gentleman whom you are requesting the link correction from has only 13 total posts and this thread has been dormant for 4 years. Your best bet is RC mail or check the user profile to see if an email address is listed and if so, contact him that way.
