Using MS Vista.
I was going to update the firmware on my tsu7500 but am having a problem.
When I download the file, a folder opens and shows the downloaded file "Update_Pronto_NG".
At the top of the window is a button to "Extract all files". I hit the button and get asked if I want to open the folder. When the folder is opened, it says, "This folder is empty.
Has anybody figured out how to get the updater to extract itself?
Thanks,
Rick

ps, isn't "progress" wonderful?

You may want to try and run the updater in Win XP compatibility mode. That is, right-click on it an select properties and then go to the Compatibility Tab (not sure if there's a dedicated tab). If the file you downloaded was a zip file, then use Winzip or WinRAR to extract it as I've heard that Windows Vista may have issues with some formats of zip files.

If you have turned off User Compatability Mode (UAC) then the temp directories get locked down. Also, you may need to run the updater as administrator (right-click the file and choose run as administrator).

After getting Lyndel's response, I just opened WinZip, picked the .zip file and opened it up that way.

btw, I haven't had any issues running or installing ProntoProNG in Vista as others have.
Although Vista is really stable, I had to remove and re-install RealPlayer to get it that way. There was no indication that Player was causing MAJOR problems until I went into some of the diagnostics and saw about twenty instances of RealPlayer running in the startup menu. After I removed and re-installed RP, Vista has been running for over a week without a problem.

mtgriff: how do you toggle the user compatability mode?

Thanks again for the responses.

Click on your picture on the Start Menu. Choose Turn User Account Control on or off. Requires restart.

mtgriff,
Thanks, I wasn't aware of that shortcut to the user account.
Just to clarify: Are you saying UAC should be on or off?

I'm just saying that I have UAC on at home and I'm not having any trouble with ProntoEdit. I don't knoiw if that means anything or not.

I don't work on remote controls for a living, I work in an IT department for an engineering company. I have UAC turned off on my computer at work because it drives me nuts there.
