Hi,

When it comes to coding Hard Buttons, is there a recommendation to follow in terms of efficiency, is it better to use
1. Learned IR codes
or
2. Links ( to pages where codes are stored ) ... ???
In addition, should I follow the recommendation I read of the 0,1 sec Delay ...???

Thanks in advance for your advice

Having tried both ways of using codes, I can say without doubt use links to a page of codes.

It makes a huge difference when you update your equipment, say swapping out an amplifier, all the devices on your remote that use for example the amp vol up and down, you learn the new code to the hidden button, all your devices are updated at one stroke without having to learn the same code for every device that requires it.

As for .1 delay, leave the code alone unless you have a problem, why fix something that isn't broken.

Cheers, Adam.

Having dedicated devices for each set of IR codes also gives you individual control of how each set of IR codes should be sent from the remote via the Device Properties->RF tab without needing to concern yourself with the RF tab settings for the rest of your devices. The important thing to keep in mind here is that the RF tab settings for a given device only affect any actual IR codes located under that device. If you are linking to an IR code in another device it's the RF tab settings of that other device which govern how the IR code is sent from the remote.

I will chime in with a resounding yup for linked codes as well. It may be a bit more work in the beginning but it will pay off later.

Some suggestions... design a page of small rectangular blank buttons first that you will use as a template for creating hidden code pages. Create one button initially with all of the properties that you desire and then copy and paste the button repeatedly to fill up the page. Make sure to order the buttons logically as they are created because when you create a link, the available buttons will be displayed in the order that they were initially created. This will make your life easier especially with groups of like commands (0-9, input commands, etc...) that you are likely to place together.
For example... if the first button created was at the top left of your page and the last button you created was right next to it, the first button would appear at the top of the link list while the button next to it would appear at the bottom. This really sucks if you assigned 1 and 2 respectively to those buttons especially if you are creating channel macros. This at least will reduce the amount of clicking you will have to do.

There is a quick and easy way to have the buttons on a given page show up on the "Create Link" list the way you want after the fact. Simply move each of the buttons on a given page individually to the back of the page (Shift+Page Down), then to the front again (Shift+Page Up) going in the order you want to see the buttons show up on the "Create Link" list. Done deal.

Is there a simple way to drag a "link" (but not actually copying the button action).

For example, I know that I can hold down Alt and drag a buttons action to another button. Is there something similar if I just want to "link" to that button instead copying it's action?
