I've had my TSU-3000 about 3 years. Today it started making a high-pitched whistling noise whenever I touch the screen. It goes on until the display goes blank.

Does anyone have any idea how I can resolve this?

Some level of high pitched noise is standard due to the inverter used to drive the EL backlight. If it's changed then all I can suggest is the inverter is failing... or just feels like sounding different. :-)

This is quite loud and intrusive - way above anything which might be considered "standard". I also notice that the confirmation beeps for screen & button presses are disabled.

I've managed to get rid of it by going into the settings pages and viewing some of the options (but not changing any).

Sounds like a "stuck" beep. Does the PCF use beeps? Search for last 4 years for issues of +stuck +beep.

See this thread as well.

The battery may be overcharged due to little use between charges. Try pulling the battery and putting it back in. I have seen this a couple of times with the Marantz remotes. If this fixes it, maybe use the charger every couple of days instead of every day. Let me know how it went.
