I have an Onkyo TX-SR602 receiver and when I'm letting my pronto search for it in the database it doesn't find it (unit doesn't turn to standby mode). Now when I'm letting the pronto learn the standby command it recognises it and gives it a database code (900A 006D 0000 0001 D26C 47B8) so it's there after all. How can I see which device and code set it has chosen so I can point the rest of the buttons to that device? That would save me the hassle of learning all the other buttons because they're in the database after all.

When you learn a code, it does not try and match it in the database. Codes that start with 900A are learned codes, not database codes.

FAQ B5-10

Why are my pasted hex codes being changed?

If your whole code is changed to a short one beginning with “900A”, then that is also normal. The Pronto NG has detected a certain code format and saves a database reference instead of the raw hex code.

So you're saying the FAQ is wrong?

Technically, yes. It is not a database reference, but a shortened form of a commonly used coding. If you ask Jonsfine, he can tell you how to convert it back to a non-shortened form. Though, if you paste it into ProntoEdit, it will get shortened again.
