That sound is supposed to be there. :) It's the motion sensor to turn on the LCD backlight when you lift the remote.

If you search back about a year or so, there is a guy who made a mod for his so the ball bearing wouldn't be so loud.

Here's the link to the mod I did on the TSU7500. I haven't had a problem since (also haven't heard that rattle noise since). Make sure that you read through the entire thread!

apierre, excellent tread - given me new hope. Did you, or could you, post any photos / further instructions for your sensor mod? The pick-up sensor on my RU990 is way too sensitive, going off at the slightest vibration (or perhaps Philips meant it to be controlled by the cat walking past). I would love to be able to tune it down a bit so it responds more like my old RU980.

your sensor mod?

Yes, I think I will, but it’s going to take a little while. My camera is off for repair, and I have jury duty starting on Monday (seriously!) until I don’t know when. Once you see some pictures I think you’ll find that it’s really pretty simple to do. Does anyone have any suggestions about the best way/place to post such a set of instructions? I’m thinking maybe a PDF with text and images posted to the "files" section of Remote Central, but that would make it difficult to update the instructions with other people’s tips etc. (I’m sure that if other people try the mod they will have some good ideas to add).

Any Suggestions?
