This may have already been discussed, but when working in PPENG for a while the icons for the buttons, backgrounds, icons disappear. The pixel size is still there but there is no graphic of what the background or button looks like.

If I drag it to a page then the graphic shows up on the page but it not visible in the gallery.

If I close PPENG and open it back up, the gallery displays the graphics fine for a while, then they disappear again.

Any ideas of what is happening? Is this a PPENG programming error?

Thanks in advance.

Chuck

Are you running the latest version of PPENG? Earlier versions exhibited similar behaviour but also corrupted your PCF.

I am using PPENG 2.1.8.0 which I think is the latest version.

The loss of the graphic in the gallery is very repeatable. My op sys is WinXP Home Edition.

So far I can work with this issue, I just need to keep closing PPENG and then reopening it to get the graphics showing in the gallery.

How big is the gallery and how much memory do you have?

The gallery is a little bigger then it is in the default gallery because I have added some graphics, but nothing which should make it grow tremendiously. I am not sure how to get an actual size. I can delete some of the default backgrounds and buttons because I don't intend to use them.

My PC is a home built with 1G RAM.

Start by backing up your gallery then deleting items from it. If there are many backgrounds, these are loaded when the gallery is opened and can consume precious Windows GDI resources. There's a limit for GDI resources (was 64KB on Win98SE) and you may be hitting this limit.

Lyndel, he is using Wndows XP which does not have similar resource limits to Win98.

Chuck, do these problems only occur when you are using the Gallery?

Peter...

Yes this problem only occurs when using the gallery.

I do extensive photo and graphics work and web site publiching on my PC and have not experienced any issues with my other programs. My PC works flawlessly except for the gallery in PPENG.

I open the gallery and in about 15 minutes all the graphics (pics) of backgrounds, buttons, etc. are no longer visible, but I can still drag and drop them on a panel and then they show up in the panel but are still invisible in the gallery. I do not open any other applications during this period of time.

If I close PPENG and reopen it everything is fine in the gallery but then again in about 15 minutes the graphics are invisible. So far I have not experienced any issue with a PCF getting corrupted.

Thanks for your inquiry.

Most of us do not use the gallery much. I usually just copy a button that is already in my configuration. I only use the gallery to get a button I don't already have, or a background.

Thanks Peter.

I can continue to work with this issue I am having so if all goes well I should be done with my PCF in a week. I work on it a little each night. So far so good.
