I'm setting up my remote and I cant display the battery, or date and time. I covered up the old display at the top with a curved arch at the top, or the background. I have the remote showing at the top on all screens, but cant use the 3 other items I want. Is there a way to do this, without having to start all over? Any help I would appreciate very much. Thanks all.

I just came here to post the exact same question.........its doing my head in!. The helpfile says anything placed on the system page will appear on every page, that seems to be correct but the items are burried beneath everthing else I've added with seemingly no way to bring the items to the front.

I had this problem too...When you make your panel template (background), cut small holes in it so that the icons shine through...This may look ugly, but if you then make the system background the same color and the area around the cutout, it will be hard to notice the difference....I used grey and it worked like a charm. My PCF is in the files section under Tee
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

Everything on the System Page will appear on every other page - but underneath anything you put on these other pages. So make sure you don't put anything on other pages where the system page items are.

When you place things on the system page, use "Bring to Front" and "Send to Back" to ensure that individual buttons/images show above the background.

You have to have it infont on the system page, and absolutely nothing infront of that section of screen in the pages you want to display it. This is a pain in the ass especially if you've already spent ages on a design before you realised. I've settled with modifying my home screen and only having the battery icon and time visible on that page.

a further question on this subject, I believe some people have changed the battery icon. How do you do that?

There's a thread that's probably a couple of years old that tells exactly how to do it but I believe it goes something like this...
  1. Rename the extension of your config file. (i.e. Change My Config.pcf to My Config.zip).
  2. Open the zip file (Windows built-in compressed folders doesn't work so you'll need WinZip or one like it).
  3. Find the battery icons (there are five).
  4. Replace them with your own graphics. Make sure you use the same file names.
  5. Change the extension back to .pcf.

Windows built-in compressed folders work fine.

I just tried it in Vista and it didn't work. Had to install WinZip.
