I've been playing with Archer's pcf file and have some questions:

1. How do you assign the hard buttons globally, so that the mute button always performs the same action?

2. How do I assign the actions to the button on the start-up page?

3. When does the Pronto revert back to the start-up page?

Thanks to Archer for paving the way with his file.

Anthony

1 Go to the tree on the left side. And click on "Home" Once that is opened. Double click on home properties. And just learn/alais the buttons.

If you want the mute button to be used through out the remote. Then you will have to make sure that, that same button does not have any actions with in the device's properties.

2 Since I've haven't downloaded his pcf. I am not sure about what you are talking about the lower buttons of the start up page.

3 The pronto will not revert back to the home page unless you press the home page button.

The only time that it will revert to the home page is when you do a download, rest. And other stuff that is not normaly done.

king of typos is referring to the "device setup page" when it reboots. You can never actually get to the "home" page unless you use peng, and even then, it is just a global setup page. Not like the ts1 and tsu2 where you just had to press the "home" icon. But you will never encounter the device setup page unless it reboots (glitch) or if you reboot it (download, take out batteries, reset, ect.)

My startup page is actually the the "Device Overview Template" located in the system properties. Normally this template has 12 buttons on it. Each of these buttons list one of your devices from the tree layout on the left side of PENG. The buttons are named what ever the device is named automatically They will listed in the order that they are in the tree. I removed all the buttons except for one in the Device Overview Template and added the graphics to the page. Now when Pronto "Boots" your are only given one button to select from which is my "Begin" (the first device in my tree). The links for this button are automatically made by PENG. So now when you click on it, it takes you to my begin page. The page that has the begin button on it only comes up when the Pronto is rebooted.

I don't use the "Home" hard button to get to the home page. I will use this button as part of the quide system in Dish Network. I have created a "Home Icon" on my pages that take you to the Home page. The way my PCF is laid out you can get to everything by pressing one of the buttons at the top of each page. The only time you actually need my Home page is to get to the Device that holds all the IR codes.

Rob gave a good expanation of the Global actions for the hard buttons so I won't go there.

If you have any more questions feef free to email me.

I have a question related to the "toggle" hard button.

From my understanding, this toggles the cursor from the hard buttons to possibly a set of cursor keys on the touchscreen. Does this prevent you from using either set without "toggling" first?
