I HAVE PROGRAMMED A URC CABLE BOX (HOLLAND) DESIGNED BY THOMPSON AND I HAVE SOME PROBLEMS LEARNING SOME CODE. THEY LOOK GOOD BUT THEY SIMPLY DON'T WORK . I HAVE TRYED LEARNING THEM A THOUSAND TIMES WITH ALL KINDS OFF TRICKS BUT STILL THE SAME PROBLEM... THIS IS AN EXAMPLE
0000 0073 000D 0002 000F 000A 0006 000A 0006 0016 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 001D 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 0016 0006 0016 0006 0010 0006 0016 0006 001D 0006 000A

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???

Do you mean you can't get working learns for any functions for that device? Or do you mean that only some functions were learned badly and the same functions continued to be learned badly when you tried to relearn them?

I probably can figure out the correct signals if I see the bad learn samples from a few different buttons (and tell me which buttons they were). But if you have any good learns, those would help even more toward understanding how to correct the bad ones.

Also, try this possible repair of the one you posted already

0000 0073 0012 0000 000F 000A 0006 000A 0006 0016 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 001D 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 0016 0006 0016 0006 0010 0006 0016 0006 001D 0006 000A 0006 001D 0006 000A 0006 0fff

Also when learning make sure both remotes are stationary and use a long press on the original remote.

Your signal above looks like it was supposed to be nearly the same signal as the TVGde signal in the Foxtel device in this CCF file:
[Link: remotecentral.com]

But your device seems to have a different unit number encoded in the signal. I don't guess any of the signals from that CCF would work for you unmodified. But the devices might be similar enough that it could serve as a guide for the function numbers in repairing the Pronto Hex for your device.

BTW, please drop the Caps lock.

Also, make sure the device where you have the IR codes stored has not been accidentally set to RF.

The learned Pronto Hex in post 1 of this thread is WRONG.

If something else is also wrong (such as what Peter just suggested) then you must fix both to get it working. I don't know whether just fixing the Pronto Hex will make this work. I do know that JUST following Peter's suggestion WON'T make it work. Also Peter's suggestion does not relate to the original cause of the learning failure (but I also don't know what caused the learning failure).

Peter's suggestion is a common cause of problems and he may have good reason to believe it aplies in this situation.

Are you learning with the remote connected to the PC?

If so, then don't.

These are very strange learning errors. They don't fit any pattern I've seen resulting from failure in getting the correct IR signal from one remote to the other. They do fit the patterns I've seen from Windows latency problems when learning with the remote connected to the PC.

I don't really understand what happens when you learn while connected. Obviously it is still the remote's IR sensor in use. But from failures reported by others it seems that a key part of the initial processing of the incomming data is done by the PC when connected but done by firmware in the remote when learning is done while disconnected. If network or display or other Windows drivers happen to grab too big a chunk of CPU time in the middle of that process data is dropped and you get weirdly garbled learned signals.

I just sent you an email (assuming the address in your profile is correct).

These bad learns are too bad to reconstruct. But the good learns identify the set of 256 signals that should include all the commands for your cable box. I used MakeHex and IrPanels to put all 256 signals into a CCF file and emailed it to you.

Given how hard the learning process has been for these, it would probably be easier to test all 256 buttons of that CCF to find the signals you failed to learn.

I'm having the same problem with the UPC Mediabox (URC was a typo by the topic starter).
For example:
0000 0072 0000 0012 000F 000A 0006 000A 0006 0016 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 001C 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 0016 0006 0010 0006 0016 0006 0010 0006 0010 0006 0016 0006 001C 0006 0CCD
is a working learned code for the "cursor right" command I got from a ccf file in the files section.

But what I get when I try to learn this same button is:
0000 0073 0000 0011 000F 000A 0006 0016 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 001C 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 000A 0006 0016 0006 0010 0006 0016 0006 0010 0006 0010 0006 0016 0006 001C 0006 0CAC
Now if only all the buttons I need would be in the ccf file I could just copy and paste them but this ccf file is missing a lot of buttons so I still need my pronto to learn some of them.
Can anyone help me out please?

This UPC boxes cause serious problems pff... I used the new pronto 9600 to discover the right codes . Still the problem wasn't solved because the 990 kept changing the codes. So i had to try some tricks and now it works. I will post my config. OK ?

Hey thanks! What exactly is the problem and how did you solve it?
