First off THANKS to every one of you audio/visual nuts out there for making this one incredible place to lurk!

This is my first post here, so be gentle - LOL.

First off I can't believe Sony would make this bahemoth without the ability to queue up a disk by number..... but then it is Sony so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I found a couple of device files for this unit in the device area and tried those and they do control the unit but I still can't figure out how to simply play "241" or "362" etc.

I looked at a couple of killer files (my by people a lot smarter than me) with full movie libraries in them but I can't figure out how they actually queue the disk in the juke.

Any ideas?

Heck, not a dumb question, simply read your manual. It will explain it much better than I can here. If you look in the setup menu, I believe that you'll find a setting about Layer, Bitrate to be displayed for a disc or an additional setting of 'Off'.

FYI, don't create your own macros. Use the ones available in LowPro's PCF in the thread +DVD +Jacket +Displayed

Cover to cover nothing about the bitrate. No problem, I'll read up on it.

I did download LowPro's file - AMAZING what he's done. However, I am either missing some files or doing something wrong because none of the controls work. Including the older Sony DVDJuke which should work fine (my old remote will run the old as well as the new).

My PCF can be found here. If this is your first time checking it out however, I'd suggest reading the reply two up from that one as well. It gives you a decent walk-through of my PCF. As Lyndel stated, my PCF does already includes macros for loading each of the 400 slots in a given changer. Said macros also ensure the rest of your home theatre system is cueued up accordingly. The devices in my PCF which automate disc selection end with "DLM" such as this one, "Sony DVP-CX985V (DVD 01 / DLM)". On the setup page under said device all you have to do is link each of the buttons in the IR codes column to the IR code buttons already in your PCF file. Once that is done you are set to go. You can then begin linking DVD cover image buttons from anywhere else in your PCF file to the proper slot number button under that device as I have done.

The specific sequence for the 985 changers by the way is stop, display, enter, slot number, enter, display. The stop at the beginning ensures that there is no disc playing, so that in turn there is only one display menu to advance out of at the end. The macro sequence should be identical for the 995 though I'd test to confirm. The IR codes used for the 985 should also be the same as for the 995. If you have problems with the IR codes for your changer give the ones in my PCF a try. The IR codes I am using are modified to ensure that these ProntoNG remotes successfully execute the IR codes, and the changers respond in kind. The IR code buttons in my PCF can be found in the Pronto Signals section.

I bet the devices in LowPro's setup use RF. You will most likely need to change the devices (Bridge DVD devices) to use IR.

I can attest that Lowpro's PCF is a beautiful thing :-). Once you "Frankenstein" your PCF with LP's body parts your Home Theater will come alive! There is one pitfall that you need to be aware of - the dreaded "Autostart" feature that infects the DVP-CX995V player. I don't know what complications this will cause to your programming.

On the older model, DVP-CX985V, you were able to stop the player from automatically playing a DVD when the unit was turned on. All one had to do was to press stop during the course of the previous DVD that you were watching. On the new model, this work-around has no effect.

Well so far so good.

I got all my movies in (about 370) I didn't use the loading pages, I got the macros all working and linked the movie button to the slot loading macros. I did a handful and all seems well.

Now I see the value of using the loading page, but to me it would have way more value if the pre-loading page was an actual movie description page.

So that got me thinking. These files are in xml right? Now I'm no programmer, but I know I can export out of DVD profiler. If I made one page template with the data I wanted (image, title, location, screen format, sound and a one sentance description) would the xml reveal enough for someone smarter than me to populate/create all the pages with the movie data from my export?

I don't know anyone that would do this as a favor, but I do know some pretty smart programmers. If I paid them to do it, would it have value to anyone else?

How would you go about automating it?

Am I making any sense?

Automating requires lots of work and comprehensive knowledge of the Pronto NG's XML Schema. It will take some folks a while to do this but it can be done as it is just software. Problem for me, is time to write the code.

If you can live with text-only pages, have a look @ SuperNudelist in the Pronto Files section. I'm now working on an NG layout in my own PCF that mimics lowpro's. However, I have not committed it to code and don't know when I'll get around to it..

I spent some time with one of our programmers yesterday and he's going to take a look at it.

If he's going to tacle it he said it would do the whole thing based on an output file from a DVD collection. Make all the macros, all the thumbnial image pages and specific movie pages. For now he's going to use DVD Profiler for the input source, but figured a page where you could map in your own file to the output fields wouldn't take that much more.
