I have the TSU7000 and from one device (DVD Recorder Page) I want to access the input from my TV that the DVD Recorder is connected to. Once the input options appear on the TV screen, I want to be able to use the arrow buttons from the TV page to navigate through the TV Input selections, make my choice and return to the DVD Recorder page. Here is what I have and here is what to happen.

From my DVD Recorder page, I have an icon that says "TV Source".
Here is the action for that button.
1. Jump to LCD TV - Main Page.
2. Link to LCD TV - Main - Source (to bring up inputs on screen)
3. Delay: 4:00 sec
4. Jump to DVD Recorder Page (Currently Selected).

Everything works but when I jump to the LCD TV page for 4 seconds, none of the buttons for the LCD TV works. Then after 4 seconds, I jump back to the DVD Recorder page just like I want.

If I remove step 4 from the action, when I jump to the LCD TV screen, the input options pop up as programmed and the TV buttons work. After a delay, can I jump back to the page where I started?

Thanks for all of your help.

While a macrto is executing, you can't push other buttons.

What you need are discrete codes for selecting your TV's inputs. What model TV is it?

It is an Olevia 30in LCD HD TV. Thanks for that info. That explains a lot.

if you cant find the discretes, why not just jump to your TV page, change the input yourself, and include a jump back to DVD Recorder on the TV page?

Tried that. That's what the above message meant when said you can't execute anything while a macro is being executed.

The only way to jump back is to put a pause in the macro so I could execute my options from the TV page, then jump back after so many seconds. Rather than adding another jump button from the TV page, I could just add a back button I suppose.

What he meant was that you should just have a jump to the page. The user then pushes teh appropriate buttons to select the inputs. The user then pushes another button to jump back to the original page.

The way I do this is a bit different.

For each activity (watching TV, watching DVD etc), I have a device with 4 pages. Each page is reached by pressing one of the four firm keys. The first 3 pages have the buttons for controlling the activity. I use the 4th page (reached from the 4th firm key) to fix things up such as power on/off, setting the correct video input. Once I've fixed whatever was wrong, I press the 1st firm key to get back to controlling the activity. Even with discrete codes, things can go wrong e.g. the power didn't go on.

Where I don't have discrete codes I have it set up so that the device is in a known state when I go to the Home page. For example, my DVD does not have discrete power. So, when I push the 'Watch DVD' button on the Home page, I turn the DVD on. Whenever I go back to the Home page from anywhere in the DVD activity, I turn the DVD off.

Now I am getting confused. Wouldn't just having a back button from TV page be the same thing as having a jump button to go back to my DVD page? The problem is that my LCD TV has no input numbers. Once I hit the Source button, I have to manually arrow up or down to my choice. My living room TV is different and much easier. Each input has a number. If I want to go to input 6, (DVD), I can just program input 6.

My LCD TV is different and I have no descrete codes for input selection. What I did was add a button to my DVD page to bring up my TV Source, then jump to my TV page. Then, after I manually select my source, I just hit the back button on my TV page to return to my DVD page. The back button is real good because if I get to my TV Source from my Tivo, the back button will get me back to my Tivo page.

yeah thats what i was saying. sorry i use the Nevo SL, it doesnt have a "back" button, instead just "jump to page" commands. so your back button always brings you to your previous page? thats a pretty cool feature.
