You probably just need to reset your 7000 and possibly reboot your computer.

If you are having problems learning through PronotEdit when connected to your computer, you may need to learn directly from your 7000 without using your computer. This sometimes happens.

Certain types of codes will not learn well through the software. In particular, codes that are converted to an internal database format seem to be trickier than those that are not.

For example, I have some Hitachi and Denon codes that, when I hold the source button down, the Pronto never seems to finish learning. After 5-10 seconds, the remote has basically locked up and I have to disconnect/reconnect it to the PC to continue learning. In these cases, just pressing the source button brielfly seems to work fine, and you likely notice the it ends up with a short 900A-type code.

Note that for all other types of codes (for example Sony) you *must* hold the button down until the remote finishes for a clean learn. And for yet other types, learning directly on the remote is better.

I found that my 7000 learned OK when connected to the PC and PENG, but, if you tried the TEST IR button, every second time it would freeze. The freeze is easy to fix through a reset of the 7000, no need to re-install firmware.

So now I learn all the codes, then do a test with the 7000 not connected.

I seem to recall the "Test IR" function being problematic. You might do a search on this forum to see what others have said. For example: [Link: remotecentral.com]
