If you saw the new DIY Channel series on home theater, you might have noticed Daniel's graphics prominently displayed on a Marantz remote. I didn't see any attribution. So, Daniel, you might want to contact the nearest shyster, er, attorney who specializes in copyurights and residuals. :-)

If true, I would think some type of bulk fee would be warranted.

I am guessing the show didn't mention Dan or this site?

Daniel, I'd consider writing to the network with a subject line of "Copyright Infringement on your Home Theater Series".

That should get their attention.

There's no copyright breach for a TV program to show a remote that happens to have a particular design on it. That's no different to showing the cover of a book.

However, the person who set up the configuration may have breached copyright.

This may well be the most amusing thread on Remote Central. I'm glad I started it. What you need Daniel is some free legal advice. If there are any Pronto programmers out there who practice intellectual property law in their daytime job, please speak up!

If marantz was a sponcer or the supplier of the remote then I have to belive that they would definatly be liable since daniels grafix would have been used to enhance the exsposure of the product to the benifit of the supplier & or the sponser, look in to it daniel!!!!

mike, you have hit a home run with this one.

I never visit Intermission because when humorous things come up here, they are really good.

Daniel, this could be worth some mileage just to draw attention to the work done by custom installers. As my wife said the other day after just trying to use the new TiVo, "how do people figure out how the %#&* to use this stuff?" When you have put time and energy into condensing all of that "stuff" and shroud it in clever and useful graphics, you should get credit. And indeed, whoever programmed that remote owes you something, even if it is just a mention of the industry!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
