I had the same problem when I purchased mine from Philips. I updated the firmware and it works fine now. I hope this helps...

I ordered a 7000 and received it today. It was
DOA. I checked the power supply, battery and all
check out o.k. Unit will not power on, never did.
No light when remote is on the charger. Everything
is connected properly and battery is installed
correctly. I am an expert in HT. My question is
one, have I overlooked something and two, any
advice when dealing with Philips in this scenario?
I am going to ask that they over night me a replacement
while I ship this one back. I do not mind Philips
charging my card until they receiver the defective
unit back.
