I have a regular Tivo (DSR708) and an HD Tivo (HR10-250) in the same entertainment center. I followed the instructions to change the address on the Tivo's, but they still seem to be working together. I want to use my TSU7000 to work them seperately. I know I will have to redo the codes into the pronto. What am I doing wrong?
Do I have to change the address on both of them, or can I change just one? I changed one of them to address 1, and the other to address 2. I thought that would be permanent. If I use a third Tivo remote (by accident or if I use my pronto with the old address codes of the Tivo) it operates both Tivo's. I thought once I change the address, the Tivo would only work with the remote that I used to change the address.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The default remote address for Tivos is "0". If you use a remote that is using this address, it will control ALL Tivos, no matter which address you programmed them to respond to. Make sure that any and all Tivo remotes you are using have been changed to different addresses, none of which is the "0" address.
You then have to program these distinct codes separately onto your Pronto.
It can get to be a real PITA, especially if you accidentally "reprogram" your Tivo addresses.
One other thing to keep in mind: When you are in your Tivo program menu where it shows your remote address, if you use another remote with a different address, that Tivo's address will be changed. For example; you are in the program menu of Tivo 1 which you have previously set as address 1. You inadvertently use the remote for Tivo 2 which has been set to address 2. Tivo 1 will now have a remote address 2 and will no longer respond to a remote programmed as address 1.
I hope this is understandable. The first time this happened to me, I was scratching my head for hours trying to figure out why one of my Tivos wasn't working.

Get 2 RFX6000s or 6500s and use different addresses for each. BLack out the front emitter and only use the flashers. Make sure there is no bleed from one flasher to the other and it works perfect.

Yeah its throwing money at a program that might be able to be programmed out 100% put this idea covers you when the Tivo is suddenly replaced due to failure or breakdown. Or upgraded.

Just an idea
