I just looked at some of the sample pages of the UPG and it looks very helpful. I would really like to use it to learn the remote. I understand the guy spend a lot of time creating it, however, I think $25.00 is little too much.

Is there a way to get it cheaper?

Please see this post.

how much would it cost to have someone program it for you? $25 might be a good deal after all. = )

Dave D'Arche is one of our own, and I'm sure he put a great deal of effort into creating the UPG. Let's not try to save a few pennies and screw him in the process. His guide has saved many of us a lot of time, and is well worth the price.

Going rate for programming is $400, give or take a few dollars. If you have the free time it is a great purchase.

Have fun, and good luck.

Well suppafreak,

You just spent big bucks on a remote and the information in the guide is well worth $25.

Say you'd driven a car all your life and have never ridden a bicycle or a motorcycle. You wouldn't go out and buy a sport bike without first taking driving/riding lessons, would you? If so, I sure would like to know what city you live in. LOL.

When I first read your post, I was thinking of responding that you should wait for it to come out in paperback. You deserve to sit staring at your remote until it does.

Then I wrote all the rest of this:

Wow, do you need an attitude adjustment.

You didn't cave in, although you feel like you did. You did the right thing, and I am sorry if you feel bad about it. I am glad for you that nobody offered to share it with you, because you would then be trusting a person who is willing to screw someone for $12.50 -- and you would be having a relationship with that person by buying from them! Now, isn't that JUST the kind of friend you want to have?

Here's an idea for you to ponder: quit using this site until you feel WONDERFUL about spending $25 on that manual. Then continue not to use the site until you are ready to contribute something to its upkeep. And because you have identified that you have an issue with money, THAT is what you should contribute.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

WOW!!

Ernie, who lit that fuse?

And suppafreak regarding this post...

How many copyright laws do you think you'd break there?

Page 2 of the guide explicitly prohibits such copying or sharing either in printed or electronic form

Remind me never to send you any software as I'd have to wonder on how many desktops, one copy would be installed.

As a software engineer, I'm of the firm opinion that just because something is in electronic form, it is NOT free. If someone charges $X.XX for a piece of software or documentation, one of the things built into that cost is a factor for support, questions, etc...

Dave gives freely of his time and so do I, especially where SuperNudelist or other questions are concerned. After reading your other post about "sharing" the cost, make me wonder....

If I fed you a lump of coal, how much time would it take for you to crap out a diamond?

Hey suppafreak, if you feel spending $ 25 is too steep a price for the upg, so be it. You are entitled to your opinion. As assinine as it is, you are entitled to it. Just apiece of friendly advice - keep it to yourself, for you seem to be the only one at this site who seems to feel this way.

Hi,

I'm new to this forum... where can I get the UPG? I'll pay the $25 if it will help me.

David

Never mind... I got it. Thanks for the postings. I would not have known to look for it without them.

Heck, I'll sell it to you for $12.50. I think we should screw the author...

As always, greatly appreciate the faithful's support and assistance.
