I've read plenty about folks being dissatisfied with the brightness of the TSU 3000's LCD. Personally, It's never been that much of a problem for me. However, recently my screen has gotten REALLY dim. It was a really strange thing, it watched it happen as I was using the remote. It was almost as if I had accidentally entered a mode to dim the LCD.

Hopefully there's a setting that I fouled up? Can't seem to find a place to adjust the LCD brightness, though. Just contrast control on the left side of the remote and the light level in the tools screen.

Don't know if this matters, but I just recently updated my firmware version. The problem didn't happen immediately, maybe a few days later.

Any help would be appreciated.

TSU 3000
App version 3.9.8
Database version 2.53
Bootloader version 2.35

Hey all you Pronto pros, any idea what my problem might be? Anyone know how many LEDs illuminate the screen? Is it possible that some (or one) has gone out? This is really bugging me now.

Thanks

"The display is an EL panel (electroluminescent). It's early '70s tech, a semi-flexible pad that glows green when powered up." -Tom S.

I had the same question. Unfortunately you can't just replace an LED. That would be too easy. My backlight went out all together. There are a few posts on this forum that talk about doing a bigtime mod and adding LED's.

You could always try and put an older firmware back on the Pronto.

Good Luck,
Steve

Run a search for "dim backlight" or LED. I had the same thing happen to mine. There is a .PDF file listed in a post somewhere that shows the part that is bad. I had an EE replace mine and it is fine now.
