Last night my TSU3000 was working fine. Using all the latest software available.
This morning I want to turn on my home theater and noticed the screen was on but very dim. When I touched the light button, nothing happened the same for the + and - buttons. So I thought maybe this is a firmware problem.
I connected the pronto to the PC and reloaded the firmware. Now there is light (never turn off) and there is contrast, but the pronto keeps changing pages and beeping.
I connected it again and tried to reload a earlier firmware, the process was easy, the pronto didn't respond and the firmware software told me to reset the device, etc. All went fine, but the same thing is happening. The pronto keeps changing pages and beeping by it self.
I took the Philips rechargeable battery to turn the TSU3000 off.
Any recommendations?
Update: I reloaded the latest firmware and the same thing keep happening. I then downloaded my PCF configuration (I didn't keep the configuration in the other firmware processes), but the same thing happens, now the screen is loosing conttrast, this is really crazy.
I took the Philips rechargeable battery (AGAIN) to turn the TSU3000 off.
Update 2: I can stop the page changing by pressing and holding the firm button 4 (far right). But no other hard button can be used. The soft buttons functions. But the screen lacks contrast and can not set it up. Now the screen is off and the ight too (no beeping or page changing). I will try to reflash the firmware now.
This remote is the first generation of TSU3000 that ever got out (Bought it from prontoedit.com). Serial number: 73463988
Willy.

Let me reply to my post:
I re-flashed the firmware (latest) and the contrast came back, but the same problem: It keeps beeping and changing pages until I press the firm button 4 and hold it for a moment, then it stops and the soft buttons work. Seconds later the screen turns off and the remote is normal until I click on the screen again, then the beeping continues and the pages changing. I have to keep pressing the firm button to use the buttons on the screen. If I release it the problems continues.
Any help?
Willy.
PS. I sent an email to Philips support. No response by now.

Did you try downloading the default PCF and not your own? ie, does this problem only occur with your PCF or does it occur for all?
If only your's, I'd go to your previous version (presuming you have one saved) that was done prior to you making the last set of changes.

Hello Lyndel! The same thing happens If I download the default configuration, I even tried with a PCF with nothing on it no devices, nada and the same problem. I can only use the soft buttons while holding the firm button 4, the hard buttons don't respond at all NEVER none of them. I was able to go to the settings pages and mute the beeping, but the pages keep changing by themselves. And if I release the firm button, again the pages keep changing. I tried downgrading the firmware two versions before with no results. I'm out of ideas.

I noticed that even if the screen is off the problem still happens. The batteries were fully charged yesterday, today: too low to perform that action. I will try to use alkaline batteries to see what happens.

Still no response from Philips. Now I know how they support their customers. Great! Now I don't know if I will buy another TSU3000.

This is really incredible. I'm tired of trying to fix this thing. And it seems nobody else is having this problem, so I'm alone in the dark right now. My options are to send the remote to Philips and pay for the fix, or buy a new one. I think is cheaper if I buy a new one... and I'm talking to myself... great!! (sorry, just finishing a bad day without my remote).

By chance does it appear that the page up/down button on the side might be stuck?
Have you dropped the unit?

Have you dropped the unit? The remote has never been dropped. I don't see any indication if the buttons were stuck. Maybe, the remote would be awake all the time, because those buttons wake the remote when it's off. That's why I don't think it's a hardware problem. And remember the pages stop when I press hard button #4, and I can use the soft buttons while holding that button. Willy.

At this point, I'm stumped and have no more suggestions. That's why I've been silent.

Thank you Lyndel... I know you've bee there.... and I know this is something new with the TSU3000.
I think I will buy a new one for 192.00. Can't wait for the TSU3500 and can't afford the TSU7000 or 7500.
Willy.

Well, After trying to fix this remote without progress I now have a new one. At least this one is not made in Belgium but in Portugal and the serial is: OP1A 0510 032021. Thanks everybody! (Specially the people from HiDef)
Now let's see what new problems arrive!!!

Hello! It seems someone is having the same problem as me: [Link: remotecentral.com]I hope there is a fix, but if this is a main board issue, then I'm out of luck. I haven't upgraded the firmware in the new remote, this one says: TSU3000 v3.0 App v. 3.1.15 Database: 2.53U Boot loader: 3.44 Anyway a new problem happened with the new remote the other day. Something that never happened with the older one: After a charge, I touched the screen and there was light but no icons. The buttons worked but I couldn't see them. I reset it and it worked again, should I upgrade the firmware? Willy. This message was edited by willy4360 on 11/01/05 08:18 ET.
