Dan,

The Jump Backward part is not a bug. Working as designed. However, I sent you an email on some addl things to test before submitting a bug report. FYI, I've already requested something similar of the Pronto Team.

If you want 'Jump Backward' to work as you expect, you CANNOT use the intermediate wait screen as, unfortunately, there's no way to do 2 Jump Backward steps in succession in a Macro (2 are required to take you back to the original screen). Since you cannot do 2 successive Jump Backward steps, you MUST use Jumps to well-defined page names. It is a PITA but is working as designed.

Makes sense, just forgot the wait screen is really another page. I'll just make a separate page for that, easy work around.
Programming at O-Dark-Thirty will do that!
Thanks again.

Waiting on Dan to reply back as I think the issue is a misunderstanding of the Browse Backward functionality.

You are correct, the Jump problem post 105 was not a bug in 3.7.7 software, just the software between my ears!

Did you ever hear anymore on the hang problem I sent earlier, with two pcf's ?
That one is related to the double tap issue, and it most definitely hangs, even on 3.7.7. User called me just last night. Reset cleared it.

I was wondering, is there a display buffer, or similar, that's separate from the regular memory? All my pcf's with hang trouble have lots of pictures for background. All are .png based, but there are a lot. The pcf's that are very basic with minimal pictures never seem to have a problem. Maybe something's going on with Jump commands and large size pages that could be overloading it some how? I've never seen hang from just a button push while remaining on the page, only after jumping.

Thanks
Dan

While we are on the subject ....

Can we please be able to tag pages in the editor that we don't want included in the Browse Backward stack? Thanks in advanced ProntoTeam!!!!

Waiting/loading screens is the first excellent example of why we need this feature. Let's say I execute my System On macro from my Home page. When doing so you are taken through a series of loading screens while you wait, the last page being my Activites page as the macro completes. Currently browse backward takes you back through each of the loading screens of course. This is just silly!

Unfortunately we currently have no way of telling the browse backward stack to ignore those loading screen pages. If I could tag those pages in the editor (I would do this for all such pages) to be ignored by the browse backward stack executing a browse backward from my Activites page at this point would take me all the way back to the page I was on just prior to the first loading screen. That page for me is a conditional page asking if my projector should be included when the macro runs or not. I would tag that one as well this way the one browse backward from my Activites page would take you all the way back to my Home page. My DVD disc loading macros would benefit from this greatly as well!

It's important to note that the remote can only remember the last 9 page navigations made. It will only browse backwards that many times in a row. So what happens if you browse backward for instance through the entire browse backward stack and end up getting stuck on a loading screen? :-P My work around for this is by making each loading screen (except for the progress bar) one big button. When tapping any given loading screen it automatically jumps you to the target page the loading screens were intended to take you to. Full proof work around, but it's ridiculous that I can browse backward through my loading screens to begin with. While I know there is a limit to how intuitive these remotes will ever be in their current form adding the feature I've suggested would at least give the remote the appearance of being more intuitive. I did not have loading screens in my .pcf file for the longest time, because I thought it was so stupid you could browse backwards through them. Eventually I gave in as it was more important to have them in place than not.

If the ProntoTeam happens to read this please consider making this a reality if possible. We need the ability to tag any given page in the editor, so that it's ignored by the browse backward stack. If our Pronto's can't get any smarter at least give us the ability to create the illusion that they are. This is a much needed feature in my opinion.

Respectfully,
FrankD

Lowpro, I wholeheartedly second the motion!

My wife has come to me on occasions telling me she couldn't use the remote because it is "frozen".

She had mistakenly pressed the browse backward button, as the last waiting/loading page is being displayed when I go and examine the remote.

As for a work-around (not), I've removed the browse backward action from the page that the last waiting/loading pages jump to.

The tag feature would prove invaluable and make family life more enjoyable :-).

Guys, I got rid of my loading screens. I don't think they are needed for most equipment complements. Wife never even noticed. :-)

From what my testing showed, there's a very small window for which the double-tap can occur. I suspect that the window is dependent on the size of the graphic at hand. My test button was a very small image.

I did not test with a larger image but if there is a pattern, I'd suspect that a larger image size may increase the time window.

I've been working on my new pcf for about 3 months. It all started when an inspiration occurred while studying how Lowpro's DVD Lobby worked. I loved the way the DVD Lobby Genres are displayed and navigated in Lowpro's file. It's absolute genius in its simplicity. It's like using the Arrow Keys in Windows. Almost everyone knows how this works without explanation so I decided to build my whole pcf (activities, control, & movie library) based on this concept. It became quite a task when I had to deal with the Browse backward button. The browse backward button was a problem for me also (similar to other complaints/wishes listed in previous posts). I came up with a bullet proof work around, but the huge amount of devices needed to accomplish the workaround testifies to the importance of this requested feature. My new PCF will be posted soon :). I call it “The Patriot”. And speaking of acknowledging other’s hard work:

Thanks to the Pronto Team for the continued upgrades to the Pronto Editor. While there is always room for improvement, the latest Editor has made it possible to tackle a much bigger pcf file with anticipation instead of dread :). The drag and drop (with active graphics) is a dream come true! And after hundreds of saves, downloads, and uploads I can say your program truly deserves the mantle of “rock solid”.

Hi... I have a TU1000 and a new TSU7000. Is there anyway I can push my TS1000 ProtoEdit features from the 1000 to the 7000? I would hate to have to reprogram the 7000...

Thanks,

Tom

Yes, but the CCF files are repositioned in the Center of the screen. The older screens were 240x219 and the new user area of the 7000 screen is 240x253.

Has anyone seen a fix for the lock-up issues with the TSU-7000?

The last time I checked into it, in the Version 3.8.14 there is nothing in the Read Me stating the changes and the problem still exists. Version 3.7.7 was the only stable work-around out there.
