Can anyone suggest an alternative to the Philips TSU 3000? I am now haveing problems with my 3rd TSU3000 and have had it with the product and Philips. The screen does not respond anymore (the glass display is not broken) I updated both firmware and software, reset powered up/down, cursed and swore, wanted to throw and smash it (but did not), and have prayed to God and Allah... none of this seems toi have made any difference. Philips will gladly replace it for $160.

If I am going to spend another dime, it will not be on a Philips product. Any suggestions for a replacement?

Hi Steve
Where have you been buying your tsu3000. on line or local. Just wondeing if the problems are with the place you are buying from.
As a general rule from the 3000 I had, and other people here at Remote Central , the tsu3000 is a decent remote. I upgraded to a 7000 with no problems with ether unit

I have been programming the Philips remotes for a while and I feel the same about the Pronto remotes. Buggy software and firmware. I have switched to the MX3000 for color touch screen types. I am using the MX850 for a TSU3000 replacement but I also like the Xantech URC 2P/B remotes for strictly IR. Let me know if you find a customisable touch screen at the Pronto pricepoint.

Thank you all for your replies...

Jim:
I bought the 1st one new through distribution in my industry, which has access to home theater equipment. The first two replacements had broken display's. I felt the display broke too easily, which reflects on the design, in my opinion

Milkman:
Do you suggest that I somehow remove the program and default the unit and start over? Are you talking about the configuration file I made? It has worked fine for over a year. The display just started not respoinding to the touch. Calibration is very tempermental and difficult to complete. I think there is a hardware problem in my unit causing the display to not function but I have no way to prove/disprove this.

Shoe:
Thank you for providing some alternatives. I will look at these models. The concept of the Pronto is perfect. The 3000 is an erganomic nightmare and just too buggy. I cannot recommend it considering I have burned through 3 units now, at a cost of over $500 including repairs.

If anyone else has a suggestion, please let me know.

Steve
