Hi all,
as you might have read in another thread I had some strange behaviour with my both docking stations(ProntoNG and ProntoProNG). I still have one other thing with no explanation. I am pretty sure they are both exactly the same only in different color, I opened both to find out they are identical.

OK, here it goes:

If I charge ProntoNG in both docking stations (from ProntoNG and ProntoProNG) it all works perfect, and battery icon in top left corner shows charging from right to the left.

If I charge ProntoProNG in both docking stations (from ProntoNG and ProntoProNG) it works fine in ProntoProNG docking station (battery icon in top left corner shows charging from right to the left), but when charged in ProntoNG's docking station battery icon goes immediately to the maximum and stays there!

Anyone?
Thanks
Jonas

I haven't opened my ProntoProNG docking station so I don't know what circuitry is inside, but can you confirm the two docking stations are identical from an electrical perspective?

From optical perspective yes. I haven't done any electrical meassurements but from layout they look identical to me and specs on the bottom are identical too..

I get the feeling the docking station is a little smarter than we gave it credit for.

The fact that the 7000 station works with both and the 3000 station only works with the 3000 (remember, the 7000 didn't exist back then) leads me to think it's checking something specific in the remote, or at least telling the remote that it's being charged (otherwise how would the remote know the battery is being charged rather than just having power fluctuations?)

With that said, the 3000 charger still does seem to charge my 7000, even if the 7000 doesn't know it's happening.

Daniel,
it might also be that it is software inside Pronto that shows battery icon correct or wrong.

It might be worth checking this with Philips, maybe you can come thru to someone from designer team. I certainly can't.
