It takes a minimum of 1 1/2 seconds to display a new page on my TSU7000. All buttons and panels are .PNG files. Is this as good as it gets? Or can I improve paging speed by changing to .BMP files. (A lot of my images are transparent in the upper left pixel.) Is there some other way to improve paging speed?

It's not a real big deal--just an annoyance.

How many different graphics do you have on your page? The more you have the slower it gets. It should display just about instantaneously.

You used Steve Martin's Graphics, didn't you?

See this post.

Peter,

My channel favorite pages (that I scroll thru) have 4 panels and 21 buttons--all PNGs. Scrolling this set of pages takes 1 1/2 seconds per page. To optimize I can try transparent BMPs and aggregate the panels in Photoshop

Lyndel,

I am not using Steve's graphics and was not aware of them until your post. Thanks alot! Now I am throwing rocks at my own stuff! Anyway, I made all my graphic elements with Photoshop and saved them as PNGs--no TSU7000 layering.

Bruce,

When working with SNL and the Pronto Team during the 7000 Beta Test, I found that if I had a large number of panels in a single device, the thing was very slow. At most, you can have around 75 pages in a device or things get slow. There was a problem earlier with regard to memory leaks where the thing would slow down and get slower as time passed. Upon first install of your PCF following a firmware reflash, is the thing slow?

Lyndel,

No decay in response time that I can detect. I don't want to reflash until absolutely necessary since the last time it killed my TSU7000. (BTW, you might recall my postings on that matter. I am pleased to report that after some haggling Philips did agree to replace the unit.)

I am going to do more testing on paging speed. I will let you know if I find anything enlightening.

Bruce
