Beau,
Man, you have one heck of a fast finger. I set
up my computer to count keystrokes as I pushed
a key and the fastest I could come up was 67 pushes
in 10 seconds and there was no way I could count
them. :)

Pround member of the Nintendo generation. :) I started practicing that skill at a very young age.

Also, chances are that your computer keyboard has a much longer travel distance than the Pronto keys.

Does pressing the buttons around the cursor turn
on the screen light, button light, or both?

There is only one light, it seems. It's all on, or all off.

Are
you saying those buttons take one push to turn
the light on and then another push to send the
command while some of the other buttons turn the
light on and send there command with one push?

Correct. The 4 buttons around the D-Pad never send their commands on first push, if the backlight is off. The D-pad, vol, channel, and mute seem to always send commands. The firm buttons seem to sometimes send commands on first push, and sometimes not.

Rob, I have not used the updater. I will open the file and see if it does anything.

The philips site and this site both have the same firmware. It is also the same as what comes on the remote.

I haven't ever touched a Neo, so maybe the 3000 behaves the same, but my remote definitely doesn't match the blanket behavior you wrote. Different groups of hard buttons behave differently.

The channel, volume, mute, and directional buttons always send their IR, wether or not the backlight is on.

The Home, OK, Toggle, and SmartSurfer turn on the backlight on first press, and send their IR on the second. (Why would anyone want that? If you've put something on one of those buttons, you probably did it so that you don't need to look at the screen.)

The firm buttons right under the screen sometimes behave like the top group, and sometimes like the bottom. I haven't figured out what makes the difference.

Just imported a ccf that I have used on a TSU2000
for a while. The speed of the buttons when downloaded
on the TSU3000 is much slower. For instance I
have to pause between each button press or the
pronto will not send out all of the commands.
Also, macros are much slower. There is a delay
between each command even when none are entered.
Will a firmware/software upgrade improve this?
Also, does Philips plan on adding a "back" feature
to return to the previous screen? I apologize
if this question has been asked in another thread.

TIA!

I've noticed that when I shut the Animation off buttons seemed to act a lot quicker...however I did not finish my macros so I can't tell you if those are any quicker...

Philips has just posted firmware for the TSU3000 that is supposed to improve IR transmission. Whether they mean strength, reliability, or speed I don't know. :-) Give it a shot.

Is the firmware newer than 2.0.38? If so, where can you download it from?

This firmware update is definitely a big speed improvement. I haven't done any thorough testing, just played around a bit. It's still not nearly as fast as the 1000, and it still gives false positives (beeps without actually sending an IR code, if I press too rapidly), but it's a lot better. Page changes happen faster, too. Let's hope there are more updates like this one in the pipe.

It's also on this site in the normal Pronto section for those who wish it.
