I have a code which Powers On my Panasonic TV

0000 0070 0000 0032 0080 0041 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0AAA

(Yes I know the code scrubber has prob had it's wicked way with it already, but this is after I've stored it and then re-loaded)

This is cut and paste this from PPENG 1.1.3 and on the Pronto RU980 I have :-
App: 3.4.16
DB: 3.42EA
Boot: 4.2.1

However whenever I try to use this code via a Pronto Button it is cut short, If however I use the 'Test IR' Code in the advance leaned code section of PPENG when the Pronto is pluged in, It WORKS!

I have been battling for many months now to try to get the pronto to switch on my TV, with long button presses, Macros, extended codes etc, but none of these work for my TV, see:

Others too are having the same problem....

I am of the belief that the pronto is cropping or cutting short this and other codes, when used with buttons, macros etc.

Shurley this is a bug at the pronto firmware level? Anyone got any views before I log a bug with Philips? (Too Late raised a bug :)

I think others have been complaining about this mis-feature for a lot longer. I don't know if you get a reply. But everyone else's experience predicts you won't get a useful reply.

Have you tried the built in codes to see, if by chance they work?

Dear Mr Rees,

Recently you have asked us about: HEX codes

We are very sorry to say that we have
no support at all for HEX codes.

Please check if the Panasonic original remote has no double functions on one button (i.e. Toggle codes) If the original remote buttons do have them the Pronto cannot learn these codes.

It might be that some of the belowmentioned information might be irrelevant, but might come handy at a later stage:

The Prontos are learners and uses the
RC 5 Infra Red Protocol.

European USA
The Prontos RU 950 = TSU 3000
The Prontos RU 980 = TSU 7000

Converter Li 900/970 = RFX 6000
Converts the
Radio Frequency to Infra Red
After you have learned the Pronto the correct Infra Red codes
you are able to switch over the device from Infra Red to
Radio Frequency on the Pronto

and the Prontos are able to learn up to 78 Khz

If your devices have a different
Infra Red protocol (like IrDA, e.g. the PACE box
of RTL , Radio Frequency or UHF ) then
the Pronto cannot learn these protocols.

Only one code can be learned on 1 button. It is simply
impossible to have 2 codes on 1 button on the Pronto.

Please find out at the manufacturer of your device whether the
original remote control meets the above specifications.

We hope we answered your question satisfactorily.

Wow. How optimistic can you be?

That reply is just too many levels removed from solving the problem. Obviously they didn't understand the problem and just as obviously, if you had somehow made them understand it, they would have no clue what to do about it.

Good luck getting help from Philips through whatever other channels you might find. But the folks who sent you that reply aren't even at the level where they COULD be educated to tell the difference between the dumb user questions they must be swampted with constantly and serious issues that they ought to escalate to someone with a clue. That's assuming they even wanted to and assuming company policy would let them.

Look at this post:

It sounds like they're giving at least promises of a correction to someone else.

Got a reply....

Recently you have asked us about: double codes on original remote control of the Panasonic

The ON and OFF button on the Panasonic remote control

It seems to us that the ON / OFF button of the Panasonic remote excists of 2 different codes.

You will need to program on the Pronto a ON button and a OFF button.

Teach the Pronto the first code on one of these 2 buttons and check with your device what it does. Re-label the Pronto button(s) if necessary.

In order to get the second part of the code of the original Panasonic remote on the second button, you will need a booklet to be placed in between the 2 remotes when the code is send from the original. Wait until the first code has been sent, then take very fast the booklet away and have the second part of the code send to the Pronto on the 2nd button.

This is a matter of trial and error as we do not know when the second part of the code will be send by the Panasonic remote control. This can happen after 1 second or 1.2 seconds etc.

As a reminder: 2 codes cannot be placed on 1 Pronto button.

When successful, do a backup of your PCF file on the PC and copy this file elsewhere. If you have any problems with the Pronto at a later stage you can still download the backup on the Pronto again.

We hope we answered your question satisfactorily.

Nope, no help.... :)

Will try again ;)
