Hi,

I just got a TSU-3000 purchased on ebay.
I reflashed the firmware without any problem, but the remote is keeping asking me for calibration (3 different points) and always ends with "Calibration failed"
I tried to precisely tap with a PDA stylus, 2 pixels away - as some threads are saying - but I can't get out that calibration procedure.

I also tried to reset the unit, leave it for one night without battery, but nothing more fancy happens.

Any clue ?

Thanks,

Squizzer

TRY USING THE END OF A PAPER CLIP AND TAPING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE DIRECTLY IN EACH CORNER.

Sorry, which corner do you mean ?
I have 4 arrows pointing to one single point. I have tried with a PDA stylus, I thought it was sharp enough.

It point OK with the top-left, bottom-right, but after pointing at the top-right it says calibration failed.

Thanks.

Try going about 1 pixel down and to the left/right of the dot in the center of the 4 arrows using a "toothpick", not a "paperclip" as you would not want to mar the screen surface.

It doesn't work.
Isn't it possible to bypass that calibration procedure ...
Or does someone has an older firmware version that I could try ?
How many calibration points does the TSU-3000 need (the procedure ends after top-right)
Thanks

Download an earlier firmware version from the Files section. However, there are a few tricks you must do on the 3000 to be able to revert. Search for +3000 +revert +firmware with a timespan of 1 year in this forum and I think you'll find the correct post.

Thanks for the tip,

I downloaded an older version of the firmware, hacked it to match the correct version number (as said in the thread).
Now it still says that the calibration is failing, but now at the bottom right (second question).

That's really strange because the screen is reacting OK when I tap it (meaning that the connection should be OK and it is recognizing that it has been pressed ...)

I have really no clue what is going on there.

Just to make sure, you are careful touching the center of the X? Make sure you are not touching the screen anywhere else with a stray finger. A stylus usually works for me. Even a bigger stylus usually works.

Batteries are nice and new or recharged?

Hi,

I just tested with new batteries (the pronto indicates a full power) but still no luck :-(
Yes, I have tried to press the center of the X (in the middle of the 4 arrows, there is a point). I also tried to press 2 pixels away from that point, but still no luck.

Maybe the connector of the screen is loose and not properly secured (that will be my next step before I send it for repair)

Thanks.

Glad you are up and running. Maybe the 2 pixels was not far enough. I'd still re-experiment to see what the actual distance required from that center point is.

It worked OK for a while, then 2 days ago, the touchscreen was completely stuck :-(
I reseted the remote, but nothing happened.

I then reflashed the bios, the screen is responsive, but I am stuck back in my calibration problem.

The thing is that I have made some search in the forum and another person has also the same problem. It sounds then like a firmware issue ...

Hope that maybe the new firmware will solve that problem, because the Philips support never answers.

Thanks,

Welcome to my hell! I have had this problem on and off since the last firmware update. Going back does not help. Believe it or not, let the remote sit for a day or two, then try again. It will suddenly calibrate, work fine for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, then start all over again. No matter how accurate you are, or how many pixels off you try, nothing else will work. I am actually convinced it might be a bad run of Prontos, since I have run into three that I have installed, or would have installed, that had this problem, in addition to my own.

Well this stinks, it was working before the update and now I have a usless piece of junk. What I find funny about the problem is that you can press anywhere on the first two coordinates, but no place on the damn screen for the third!
