I would like to say hello to everyone on the forum, I'm happy this things exists because I wouldn't have the slighest clue on this device. I would like to think I know a good amount about computers, but not much about programming. I haven't gotten my TSU3000 yet but I would like to get a head start, and I think you guys/girls are the best place to go. Here's my soon-to-be home theater system:

DEFINITIVE Sound System (2 Quad Midrange, 2 single 5.5" bi-polar, and center shielded spkr)
SONY 57" Wide Screen (SONKP57WV600)
SONY 300 Disc DVD/CD (SONDVPCX875)
SONY ES RECIEVER (SONSTRDA4ES)
Phillips TSU3000

So, here's my unbelievable questions, please just laugh and then answer:

1. Can I download .PCF files (as an entire program) then copy and use as an original? For instance, a DVD section of someones and apply to mine (same device)? If yes, how?

2. Do I create buttons through ProntoEditNG software and "learn" them through TSU to remote or what?

3. If I download .PCF files (for instances, contempt.pcf) will those work with my TV (since it's not the same brand) and can I delete certain items I won't use (such as VOD, VCR, etc)?

4. Is there someone who can pick themselves off the floor (since I'm a total idiot) and answer these questions?

ANY other advice about the TSU3000 would be really helpful. I won't be getting it until I move into my new house, but the sooner I start, the better I'll be.

Thanks in advance for ALL your help,
Sean Thompson

1) open both PCFs in PENG and copy/paste
2) create the buttons and layout, then dl to remote and learn
3) if it is not the same brand then it will not control it, but you can learn the codes for your TV and then it will work
4)no

If you're good with computers, I'd suggest you just download the software and a few .pcfs and start playing. It really is rather intuitive for the most part and you will probably be able to answer most of your questions yourself.

Can the many .ccfs in the other Pronto remote file areas be used with the 3000?

What are the diifferences between the ccfs and pcfs?

Yes. ProntoEditNG can convert a ccf to a pcf. However, you probably want to just do this as a starting point. The 3000 has a lot of features that the other Pronto's don't have. If you're just going to copy ccf's to a pcf, you may as well buy one of the older, cheaper models.

CCFs and PCFs are different, but PENG can translate from CCF to PCF. CCFs could be a good place to get codes and some ideas for layouts, but the 3000 is 16 shades of gray, so no use using icons that only support 4 shades, and the color CCFs will not look as good since they are downgraded to gray. There is also a difference in the hard buttons.
