Beside the USB connector, there's a larger connector on the Pronto which no doubt links to the dicking station. But why has it got so many pins? Will they provide other interfacing options for this device?

What I was told in a Philips Training last week, was that it will be for the docking station. Either the one used for the TSU-6000 or a similiar one.

Likely the docking station can also be used as a pass-through for USB (same connector is on the TSU6000's station, which as a serial passthrough).

Correct. I have the docking station. It has a USB passthru. The instructions recommend leaving the remote in the dock and using the passthru USB for software up- and downloads.

That's mainly due to higher battery draw when connected to USB. When battery levels get low, the software won't allow a download even if the remote connects fine to USB.

That's weird, considering there's power available on USB, more than enough to run the USB interface. There's almost enough power to run the complete thing, the back of it says 100mA/6V, USB'll give you at least 100mA/4.4V, or 500mA/4.75V in high power mode.
