I've been currently using the TS1000 and the X-10 Remote Commander to receive the X-10 IR codes from the pronto which then sends the proper X-10 code to the lamp modules. Since I'm considering getting the TSU3000 which has RF output capability I have a question about it's ability.

Is it possible to set the Home Automation device for RF output and operate any X-10 modules using a X-10 receiver module without the need of the optional RF Extender and the X-10 Remote Commander? Has anyone tried this?

X10 and the 3000 use different RF frequencies. There are RF to RF converters available but I haven't tried them.

I have recently purchased an RF to RF converter for this purpose. It is available from http://www.myelectricdog.com/ You need to purchase the multiboard, a 418Mhz receiver and a 310Mhz transmitter. You will also need (not available here) a 5v regulated power supply and possible two antennas. It works really slick. I am also trying to control my ceiling fan with a second transmitter mounted on the same multiboard. I have been having some problems with that part, but Dave Houston, who's son runs the above website, has been an excellent resource and has provided ample help!

I also have built the RF2RF from Dave's site. It was very easy to build and works great. See my response to Cooch at:

Thanks alot for the replies all. I just kinda hoped the TSU3000's RF capability would eliminate the need for the IR543 command console but apparently not. No biggie.

blog,

I saw your thread yesterday about the device you built. Very nteresting. Unfortunately I'm paralized from neck down so I can't use my hands so I definately won't be building anything. :)

LOL, It appears it will be much simpler to keep it set to IR output and continue using the X-10 IR543 command console.

What about making the X10 PAT01 transceivers listen at 418 rather than doing a 418/310 transceiver? Too complicated without a circuit diagram?

Interesting thought.

I wonder if the pin outs of the 310Mhz receiver in the X10 module is the same or at least similar to the 418Mhz receiver that Dave Houston sells??

Certainly worth investigating
