No ProntoPro NG update's are announcend at CEDIA as some of us hoped. Only Ipronto update's The Ipronto update's are available at pronto site. So we'll just have to wait "again" ( i need some mem.) Some nice features on the new marantz remote, like button backlight features etc. Maybe something for the new TSU 7000 / RU980 firmware !

Yeah, I was disappointed as well. I did complete a list of the complaints I'd received from users as well as the issues listed here on the forum, created a one-page summary, and gave it to one of the european Philips representatives. I did like the auto backlight and pick-up sensor on/off features of the Marantz RC9500. If Philips would add these two features to the Pronto NG along with full memory capacity and the ability to get around the "double hard button press" requirement, I think a lot of users would rejoice.

Is it a good thing or bad thing nothing has been announced yet? Hard to say. The lack of heads up is not comforting however, after many have waited from the 1st quarter, and now well into the 3rd quarter of this year with still no word. For such a dedicated community which supports Phillip's product line a heads up would be nice. Everytime a new firmware comes out I get nervous and with just cause per my problems with the latest firmware updates for the TSU3000 and TSU7000. I will feel much better after the full 32 megs is available for the TSU7000. Hopefully that firmware update will be kinder to me than the last round of firmware updates were. -Lowpro

Dear Pronto NG and ProntoPro NG and iPronto users,
It seems that not everybody received accurate information at the CEDIA show when they came to our booth. Here is a quick list of what is planned from now to the end of the year:
New firmware upgrade for the iPronto, which went live on Monday *In combination with the latest iProntoEdit version (2.4.3), you can now program the hardkeys separately for each device
New firmware upgrade in Q4 for the iPronto *The firmware will turn on the MMC card reader to allow ICF files to be loaded into the device from a MMC card
This will allow installers to quickly load ICF files without having to attach the iPronto to the network or travel with a PC to reflash a unit.
New firmware upgrade in Q4 for the ProntoPro NG * Turn on the second 16 MB in the unit to give a total of 32MB * Increased up and download speed * User definable wake up of the LCD screen by the units hard buttons
This will give the ProntoPro NG users a PCF file size of approx 26 MB for their files
New firmware upgrade in Q4 for the Pronto NG * Increased IR learning
I hope this helps and gives you a little more insight of what is cooking in our kitchen. Carlton thanks for stopping by and giving us your summary. Thanks also to the other Remote Central members who stopped by, we appreciate the feedback
Regards Philips ProntoTeam

Thanks for the information ProntoTeam. I did all kinds of searches on the web and could not find much information at all from CEDIA. I like many others were hoping to hear some ProntoProNG related announcements. This is good stuff. Thanks!
With all the hard core Pronto users here at remotecentral it is easy to assume someone here is "in the know" and many of us had just not heard anything. We appreciate you stopping by and giving us an update.
Respectfully, Lowpro

Hi Pronto Team,
Thanks for the clarification on the future updates. Appreciate you reaching out to us to keep us informed. Is Q4 "calendar" or your fiscal year Q4?

Pronto team:
Thanks. Nice to hear that new firmware is being released for the Pronto NG and Pronto Pro NG.
"New firmware upgrade in Q4 for the Pronto NG * Increased IR learning "
I hope this includes a fix for the Somfy remote. Previous firmware releases indicated improved performance for the Somfy with the Pronto NG and ProntoPro NG. However, I did not experience improved performance for my Somfy IRT 103 commands. The only way I can get the Somfy commands to work reliably is to send the commands via RF in conjunction with the RFX6000. I was thinking of upgrading to the ProntoPro NG (I have the Pronto NG TSU3000) but someone else couldn't get the Somfy commands to work with their ProntoPro NG (TSU7000) even with the workarounds that I got to work with my TSU3000.
Thanks,
randman

Dave D'Arche They said "from now to the end of the year". So obviously calendar year, which means they mean between 1st October and 31st December, 2004.

However, I did not experience improved performance for my Somfy IRT 103 commands. There's nothing particularly difficult about the Somfy IRT 103 commands other than the long spaces (6.5ms & 10ms) after ~0.3ms pulses. I was able to capture them with my capture hardware and soundcard. This might be a firmware issue. I've seen other reports of the NG truncating commands.

Dave,
It is indeed a firmware problem. I attach Philips' response to my query on the IR code getting messed up.
*************************************************************
Dear Mr. Koh,
We have verified the HEX code, and it is in correct Pronto format. So it is not the code causing the problem (in the way that it is not incorrect), but the code scrubber making an invalid code out of a valid one. We will address the issue to the Pronto development team, as the way the code scrubber works is not really correct.
We hope we answered your question satisfactorily.
With kindest regards, Philips Customer Care Centres

But the trick that worked with some of the codes giving you problems (adding a dummy pulse/space at the end) did not help the person having problems with the Somfy IRT 103 codes. I wonder if the people doing NG firmware ever saw a TS-1000? ;)

ProntoTeam:
Thank you very much for the udpate. I'm really looking forward to the new firmware! I think there is really only one question that remains unanswered: Is there any "auto hard button backlight" feature planned to automatically activate the lights behind the hard buttons, as there is with the new Marantz RC9500?
Thanks again!
