Just to let everyone know ...

... packed up and sent my TSU-3000 to Philips today.

Got home from work yesterday and touched the screen to ‘wake her up’ ... pressed my desired icon (a series of power on’s and a jump) ... and went to press the desired channel and there was no longer any icons on the screen. Although I could touch the screen and the remote would send the IR code ... there was no icons on the screen.

Yes, the touch screen still worked but if I didn’t know where to touch ... well, you know. Think of it as having a blindfold on and trying to use it.

Attempted the usual fixes ... replaced a fresh set of batteries, reloaded my .PCF, pushed the reset button several times, reloaded firmware 2.0.38.1 several times. Then called India. What a b!$@#.

It appears that as soon as I can provide them with a good UPS tracking number, they will get a replacement on its way back to me.

I received and have been using my 3000 since 12FEB03. Lets all hope this was the only one with this problem.

Just wanted ya’ll to know.

Not to be oversimplistic, but did you perhaps inadvertantly 'zero out' the contrast?

As far as I've seen, the contrast resets to default each time the unit reboots.

Please let us know the condition of the unit Philips sends you back. Previously, with the TSU-2000, Philips was sending out very banged up, and even defective, units as replacements. I'd like to know how they're handling the 3000.

Thanks in advance.

FYI …

Received my replacement 3000 from Philips yesterday.

Sent the broken one back on 01APR, called ‘em with UPS tracking number and got replacement on 03APR … but I am only 1 state away.

The unit appears to be brand spanking new. They used the original TSU3000 box as the shipping container. No outer box, bubble wrap, peanuts, etc. And the seal (round, clear circular sticker) was loose on the box. Not broken … just loose. Not impressed.

Checked to be sure and the firmware is 2.0.38.1. Uploaded my .PCF. Noticed this 3000 appears to be more sluggish than the one I sent back. Will reload 2.0.38.1 this weekend and see if that helps.

>> Reloading 2.0.38.1 helped ... not as sluggish.
