Ok, guys I upgraded to WinXP and can now upload and download to the remote. So now the problem is I cant learn codes through the remote. I get a timeout error and it says it cant open the designated comm port. Why is it looking for a comm port and not the USB port? How do I fix this problem???

Thanks

When you click on "Add IR Code" and then "Learn IR" you will get....

The remote is not connected to your computer...If the remote is not connected to the computer by the USB cable.

Waiting for RC device to learn IR Code...If the remote is connected by USB and ready to learn.

The Pronto is not connected to the computer or the Pronto is not Responding...If no IR code was present to learn. If you then press "Details" you will get "Error 0010. Could not open the given serial port."

OK, so much for that, but why doesn't it learn the IR codes?
Make sure that the remotes are head to head for learning, not head to butt like older Prontos.
Try different distances and angles.
To much sunlight or flourescent lights can hamper, try in darken room.
Try a different remote to learn.
I have a cable remote that won't learn unless you press and release the button. Most remotes you hold the button down until it learns.
Try learning directly from the remote to remote without the software.

Ok, I upgraded the firmware. Now I can open PENG and select a button and learn a code through PENG. However when I try to learn a code on another button or even add a second code to the same button I nolonger get the waiting for RC device screen. It simply goes to the remote not connected screen. Under Details it says no errors occurred. If I close PENG and reopen the above scenario starts over again.

ANY IDEAS?????????

Thanks

Learn only one IR code to a button, use the links to make a macro that has a link to several IR codes.

Sorry I have no idea on the remote not connected on second try.

Is the PCF you're using, one that was converted from a CCF to a PCF. Maybe, try loading a different PCF into PENG and see if you have the same problems.
