I received a reply from Phillips! And they mention this site! ;)

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your inquiry.

We apologize for delay with TSU3000. We expect it to be available approximately in March.

We don't have any feedback yet of Magnavox MDV-450 DVD but if it uses a lot of 'toggle' codes it might be problematic but not necessarily impossible to learn. Have you already checked work arounds that Pronto users have for toggle codes? Good site to read more is http://www.remotecentral.com. Check on FAQ's and in forum (search with 'toggle' for example) and you should get a good picture what problems you might face with toggle codes and ways to get around them. If you have been able to learn your Magnavox to your current Pronto i don't see any reason why TSU3000
wouldn't learn it as well.

Kind regards,
Mari

Is this "available everywhere in March" or "available in Europe in March", given that the message is from Pronto European support?

Good question David (at least we know now when it should be available in Europe :-) )

well, I didn't specifically ask Phillips Europe, so I'd imagine it's a world wide release date.

Except that Philips themselves have said several months later in Europe.

Perhaps even more important, the Philips people at CES are apparently saying that it's shipping *now* to distributors who deal with custom installers, and it will ship more widely in the next few weeks.

Yup, it is indeed shipping in limited quantities.

It may be that the customer service person was confused. It wouldn't be the first time - they're often the *last* people in a company to know what's going on.

According to my sources, the distribution will be very, very limited indeed. There appears to be a 3 month exclusivity agreement for distribution. This is all heresay though-do not hold me to it!
