Has anyone started looking at the layout of the PENG .xml file format? I am looking to write a script to "inject" buttons based on a list of DVDs (similar to what SuperNudelist will do for CDs on the TSU2000) but am not familiar with the format yet. I figure it is translatable but if someone had started down the road, perhaps I could save some time and make something that might help the list...

I took a look at it to see if I could program the fourth hard button by manually updating the XML. The format seems pretty straightforward, if a little bit indirect -- it's clearly an XML representation of the remote's internal data structures, rather than something designed for human consumption. (E.g. there's a list of strings at the beginning of the file and the rest of it refers to string IDs rather than including the strings inline and letting PENG assign them IDs at load time.)

I expect the file format won't be a big barrier to someone writing a third-party editing app, should someone decide to do that.

My attempts to program the fourth button didn't work, I should add; most likely it's just not supported by the firmware.

It does seem pretty straightforward. I've been tempted to contact Phillips and see if they could supply a DTD so that SuperNudelist could be made to output an XML document for the 3000.

In my experience neither SuperNudelist nor CDJ2CCF output a CCF file which can be translated by PENG, even though the files can be used with PE. Ugh.
