Thanks Lowpro. What settings do you use for the
button/size/resolution?

I size the original DVD cover images down to 52x74 to be precise. Total of 16 per page. It makes them just large enough to see comfortably without having to strain your eyes. Knowing I would eventually need room in my pcf for 1200 DVD cover images I did not want to make them any larger than 52x74. Having 16 per page greatly reduces the number of pages there are to go through and saves on the memory usage as well. If I want more detail on a particular movie, or want to browse my collection by genre, actor, or whatever, I can just use my DVD Profiler application. Then cue it up with the remote. :-)

If you like I will upload my pcf file to the web for download, so you can take a look. I should have time tomorrow night maybe. I'll let you know. Could save you a lot of time with you own pcf file perhaps.

The file is over 10 megs. Too large to send via my email. I am just going to upload it to my web space and provide a download link.

I should have my pcf file uploaded in the next couple days. I'll post a download link here.

FYI: The graphics and main interface design for my pcf file originate from Daniel Tonks TSU3000 configuration file with some minor tweaking on my part. The only part I truly take credit for is in the DVD navigation scheme I have come up with, including the work it took to complete the pcf file as a whole for my system. Not that what I have done is original in any real sense mind you, but I am proud of what I've churned out. Was a labor of love for sure. :-)

This is an updated version of my .pcf file talman and others. I tweaked all 1200 macros which load the DVD changer slots. I needed to add a link and jump to each macro which I have been putting off for some time. Took forever, but now each macro is rock solid. I'm definately done with these macros now. :-P

(To download hit up the link in my signature area below.)

FYI: The main interface / graphics throughout my .pcf originate from Daniel Tonks TSU3000 file. Just wanted to make sure I give him credit for making such an awesome .pcf file and better yet, making it available for download. Thanks Daniel!

I love this idea! I've bought a 7000 with eventually
doing this as a primary goal. I wonder if the
400 disk Sony changers (specifically the DVP-CX985V)
can be linked--although I imagine it's not necessary
with the pronto.

Those are the 3 changers I am using with my setup. On the back of each unit is a command mode switch which allows you to select one of three different sets of IR commands for the changer to respond to. The remotes that come with these changers have the same command mode switch which can be found in the battery compartment. This functionality allows you to basically have 3 of these changers each with their own unique set of IR codes. You then just learn the codes off the remotes accordingly. Not sure if this is what you meant, but up to three of these changers work without any type of extended IR setup as you can set each changer to respond to its own unique set of IR commands. My .pcf file btw includes the full set of IR codes for all 3 command modes, including discrete power on and off IR codes for each as well.

Thanks for posting those!! I'm absolutely new to pronto programming but my 7000 arrived last week and I've purchased the guide so hopefully I'm well on my way.

Thanks for the info on the Sony changer. I'm happy to hear that it works so well. Guess the limit is 1200 DVD's then huh. :D

If you check out my DVD Profile online the collection
ID's in my DVD Profile directly correspond with
the slot numbers my DVD changers.

"10" gets the premier slot. Love Bo, hate Bolero.

I'm fascinated with the amount of work you've done on your 7000. How long does it take you to add one DVD (including Photoshop work) now that the infrastructure is in place?

10 minutes max from adding a new title to my DVD Profiler, saving the DVD cover image, loading my pcf to add that new DVD cover, to downloading the adjusted .pcf file to the remote.

A good part of that ten minutes however is waiting for my .pcf to load and in turn, download to the remote at the end of the process. With my .pcf I have all the macros for the remaining slots in my 3rd changer already done, so there is no work there at all other than jogging cover images down to make room for a new title. Then I just link that new DVD cover to the appropriate macro. Depending on the title I may have more or less DVD cover images to jog down. No one letter carries over to another on the same page however, so I only have to jog images down for that letter. Since I use that temporary background image it is very easy to jog DVD covers down quickly while keeping the placement consistent.

There is no real work in Photoshop for the DVD covers. I simply paste the DVD cover from my DVD Profiler to a new file in Photoshop, save it by collection ID in its original size first, then resize the pic and save it again for import into the remote with PPENG. I have actions setup in Photoshop that do this for me, so it takes even less time than it should. :-P

The system I have worked out is very dynamic even though everything is a manual process. The only time consuming work was getting everything initially setup. Sometimes I hold off and add several new DVD titles at once, but I enjoy spending the few minutes updating my DVD Profiler and pcf file, so I will take the time to just add one new title. It's fun! :-)

Enough with the pointless questions! Let's talk about the important parts of the pics. Whats with those food links, the "Home Service Index"? What do those work on? Do you have automated food orders that you can make with a remote?

Talman, I'm curious which guide you purchased. I've had the remote a few months but only done basic things so far, and would love a guide to help me with basics before I ask what end up being really basic questions (like "what does the on button do?").

Oh, and of course I was kidding about the "pointless questions" comment. I actually learned a lot reading the thread.

don't know who you are talking to, but I do have something similar in my old CCF. The food index (for me) was just a way of having different phone numbers on hand and a list of some of the best choices for that place, so that if I order and I have guests they can help in the selection. It beats needing to look for the number and the menu

PS if you really want I guess you could automate the dialling by getting a phone that can receive IR commands or if you use an HTPC then adding a modem card with phone capabilities.

I purchased the programming guide from Dave who is a regular contributor here. You can purchase it at http://www.prontowizard.com I've only barely gotten into it and already it's DEFINITELY worth the money. Dave does a great job at explaining things.

Lowpro, awesome job with the remote! This is exactly what I would to do for my CX777ES using my Pronto. Do your CX985 changers also have that horrible Disk Explorer interface? If so, I'm wondering how you were able to work around it- I assume you have a macro to take it to disk explorer, then delay (maybe 2-3 seconds?), then hit the slot number, then hit enter... I'm going to have to play around with this for awhile to make sure I have the right settings.

Nevermind, I didn't even see page 2. I'll take a look at the pcf file.

Yep. I use macros to load the changer slots. Disc explorer is not needed in any way. I have not even seen the disc explorer feature. I never even messed with it. My changers have been controlled via my Pronto's since day one.

I have updated download links I am going to post here tonight. I had to add an additional link and jump action to each of the 1200 macros for my DVD changers. Man my eyes are going wiggy after updating all that. Links will be posted here shortly.
