1) Beyond Media

This device is used to control the Beyond Media software
running on my HTPC. I recently purchased a href="http://www.usbuirt.com/" target="_blank">USB-UIRT
and Girder
in order to have this type of control with my
TSU7000. It was a very small investment to make
for this type of control and has really opened
up some possibilities now.

This is fantastic. I was looking to set up Beyond TV with my Pronto and Girder, and this could help me a lot. Thanks.

I am using a standard set of Panasonic DVD IR codes from the built-in database in conjunction with my USB-UIRT and Girder to control Beyond Media via my TSU7000. The IR codes used are clearly identified in my IR codes device.

Below is a download link to my Girder file if you want to try it out. This should be used in conjunction with my current .pcf file just posted for download today.

LP's Beyond Media Girder File:
[Link: lowpro.net]

Couple things worth noting on this deal ...
When setting this up I found that on a short or firm button press each Girder event was executing twice per what I was seeing in Beyond Media. By setting the mimimum IR duration for these Panasonic IR codes to .01 seconds in PPENG I found that each Girder event was only executing once as it should on a short button press. On a long button press said Girder event was still repeating rapidly as it should.

I also had some quirky navigation problems with Beyond Media and some of the plugins I installed. In Girder I had each event targetting the main executable for Beyond Media, "SSBeyondMedia.exe". By changing the target of each event in Girder to target the foreground application instead, the quirky navigation issues I was having went away. I'd like to go back to targetting Beyond Media directly as it will allow me to multi-task, but for now I can live with Beyond Media needing to be in the foreground.

Thanks for the Girder file, I'm going to play with this next week, and thanks for the tips. I figured I'd pick a set of codes I don't use and use them with Girder.

Thanks again. :)

That is just what I did. I choose the first set of Panasonic DVD codes from the built-in database in PPENG as I don't anticipate ever owning a Panny DVD player.

"Oh one last question. can you do all of this
from the software that is supplied with the modem??
Will I have to purchase more software or what?"

Did you mean to say modem, or remote? In addition
to the editor software for the remote you need
a graphics program like Photoshop which I use
or Paint Shop Pro or something. Also, if you
plan on using a DVD jukebox it helps to keep a
database where the collection ID's or database
entries correspond with the changer slots you
will be putting the DVD discs in. I use a program
called DVD Profiler (www.dvdprofiler.com) for
this. This is also where I grab the cover scans
as well which I resize in Photoshop accordingly
for import into PPENG. DVD Profiler is great
to have regardless for it's other benifits.

I love technology! I just need to figure out how to use it. Keeping up with it's growing rate is hard enough!

I am a new pronto7000 user. i know that it is capable of a lot, but never new how much until I discovered this site. I loaded DVDprofiler http://www.intervocative.com/ and was curious how this will accompany my sony 400 disc DVD.

Each individual DVD disc I load in my changers is first added to my DVD Profile. DVD Profiler assigns said DVD a collection ID. I then load that DVD in my changer according to its collection ID.

Collection ID's 1-400 = Changer 01 (Slots 1-400)
Collection ID's 401-800 = Changer 02 (Slots 1-400)
Collection ID's 801-1200 = Changer 03 (Slots 1-400)
Collection ID's 1201-1600 = Changer 04 (Slots 1-400)

In my pcf file each of the DVD changer devices contain macros 1-400 which load each of the changer slots. Said macro not only loads a given changer slot, but also cueues up the rest of my home theatre system accordingly, then jumping to the transport controls for that changer. As such, when adding a DVD cover to my remote via PPENG I simply link that DVD cover image button to the corresponding marco.

O.k. I tried your set of commands to access the disc in each slot. I think that I got it right, you tell me.

Stop, display, enter, disc #, enter, display.

Thanks for any feed back. I thought that I saw this set of commands somewhere but when I went to reference to them I couldnt find them again. Thanks again

The sequence you detailed above is correct to load any given changer slot.

The stop command at the beginning of the macro by the way is required to ensure one macro sequence gets the job done each and every time. As long as a DVD is not actively playing when the display menu is entered there is only one display menu to advance out of. If a DVD is already playing when you enter the display menu there are two display menus to advance out of.

If you are working with my DVD changer device/s you will need to make sure each button in the IR Codes column of the "Setup" page is linked to the appropriate IR code button. You can learn IR codes directly to these buttons as well of course if you want to.

I finally took the plunge last week and ordered a Polk XRt12 XM Reference Tuner.

In preparation for said tuner I spent a good bit of time over the weekend working up the device for my .pcf file. Pretty pleased with how it turned out. :-P

Full Size Preview Pics Below:
XM Music Channels
XM News, Sports, & Talk Channels

The XM logos are also available as a seperate download via the files section.

For anyone interested I've updated the download link for my .pcf file accessible via the link in my signature area below. Enjoy!

Today I finally got around to implementing the system page for my .pcf file!

As large as my .pcf file has become this was sorely needed. Prior if I wanted to make a change to the top part of the inteface that change had to be made on every page of my .pcf file. Any changes to the top part of the interface can now be done on the system page. Talk about a time saver. :-)

As such, the download link for my .pcf file has been updated accordingly. Enjoy!

Lowpro -

I'm new in this forum town, so can someone tell me where I can find the nearest Dunkin Doughnuts? Talk about your lousy icebreaker (sorry, that's all I could come up with ;-)

I have a question that possible you or someone else could answer in regards to the use of DVD Profile software. My apologies if this question has been answered in the past.

When you come across a DVD with multiple disks, say Aladdin 2-Disc Special (Platinum) Edition, how were you able to make disk 2 (supplemental features) the next unique collection number? What steps did you take to "manually" add the disk to your DVDCollection?

Thanks

DVD Profiler will not allow you to add duplicate entries. As such, you must add these additional entires via the the Add DVD -> Adding by title tab, but first unchecking the "Download profile from IVS" option in the lower left corner of said tab. Once unchecking the "Download profile from IVS" option you can enter the duplicate title name followed by the disc number afterward, then add that disc.

Keep in mind that as you are not downloading from IVS all you will have is an empty entry basically with the title you want, but more importantly, a collection ID. You then need to reorder your collection ID's by title via Collection -> Reassign Collection Numbers. When doing so this will place that additional entry directly after your original entry. Be sure to check closely after reordering your collection ID's by title each time however. Sometimes that new entry you've just created may not sort the way you would expect initially.

Take a look at my DVD Profile as shown online via a link found here if you like. I cover use of the DVD Profiler application briefly in that post as well.
